Which recipe book(s) did you use this Christmas?

My DM relied on Delia whereas I use Nigella. I love adding to my Christmas recipe book collection but Nigella's recipes are the ones that get asked for, particularly the Christmas Morning Muffins and the Christmas Cupcakes (both from "How to be a Domestic Goddess"). I use "Feast" for the savoury recipes

Do you have recipes that are passed on from the older generations? Do you try new recipes or do you have traditional recipes that you always use?

My mum's broccoli and onion bake, from a cooking class she did in 1982. Still got the handout sheet with the recipe.

That's amazing! My DM had a copy of Mrs Beaton's which had belonged to my DGM and she had various recipes she had sellotaped into the front covers and there were also some recipes she had cut out from the backs of packets and magazines ~ I think she used those more than the recipes in the book!

Does the broccoli and onion bake have cheese in it?

Yes, a white sauce with lots of cream cheese in it, topped with cheddar. A Christmas side dish she always made.

I made Christmas cupcakes from Jane's Patisserie. I make a lot of cakes from her books/online recipes

just delia for the bread sauce

Delia for bread sauce, Nigella for puddings! Bloody love them both

I used both the Nigella and Mary Berry Christmas books this year. Yule log (N), stuffing (MB) and gingerbread (N) recipes. The gingerbread was the best and I will make this next year. I like to do things differently every year but I'm thinking of sticking to my tried and tested recipes from now on as I copied some Instagram ideas eg Yorkshire puds and they didn't work. Delias are the best.
