I need recommendations please for a travel backpack

Going away for a weekend to Prague I think in January and flying Ryanair. Read some bad stories about Ryanair recently, how they are trying to gain more money from passagners with the bag sizing and charging passagners fees.

I am looking for a backpack to use as the small carryon bag but not the 10KG bag.

I looked on Amazon and all of the bags that are suitable for ryanair and travelling looks very boxy and opens up to be like a suitcase. That's not what I a looking for.

I just need a regular sized backpack that would meet the ryanair demensions. There are loads of backpacks on Amazon but they are too tall being 43/45/49cm in height.

Does anyone have any recommendations for backpack for travelling?

For travelling, I will need a backpack for my phone charger, toothbrush, medicine and supplement bag, small toiletry bag, wallet, lunch, small knitting project, other things like passport, keys, flight details, earphones, glasses, hat and whatever else I will decide is suitable.

I don't want a boxy type of zipped suitcase bag because I need a regular backpack to use in my day to day life too.

Any normal sized back pack will do.

if it’s not rigid body and you don’t overstuff it will squash down enough to fit under the seat or in the measuring box.

i have a north face bog standard rucksack that is my hand luggage.

This one is perfect for RyanAir carryon. I had to measure my giant backpack at the gate the last time I flew RyanAir and didn’t pass but my friend had this one and didn’t even get questioned. Seems to fit enough for 4-5 days without getting get too bulky.

Potential problem with the vacuum ones is that if you get a little rip the vacuum won't work and you could get caught out with size.

I do understand the desire for a more normal rucksack but honestly the cabin max type ones on Amazon are brilliant. They fit loads for a break and you are secure about size.

I have a cabin max and love it!! Lots of pockets, a good amount of space in the main body and it’s got little wheels if it gets heavy.

I bought this one earlier in the years for carry on. It does say its 49 cm tall, but as its a fold away its very squishy at the top

Ive used it a few times under BA seats (which I think is supposed to be less room)
