I have multiple kids and 2 with December birthdays so I start buying early! I bought my daughter a £30 jumper early Nov for Christmas and she doesn't like it, i don't have the clear bag with label but i have proof of purchase on my next account and its still tagged.
Could I take it i store for her to exchange for another one?

Don’t some stores extend their returns period at this time of year?

Billybagpuss · 26/12/2025 22:34

They’re usually pretty accommodating it’s definitely worth a try.

I googled but I couldn't see anything. I don't really use next so not familiar with their policies.

Next are really good at returns because they use smart barcodes. You don't normally need a receipt. I took back various baby things (just because we were gifted SO much in duplicate sizes) and was surprised how easy it was. Much better than M&S, despite their reputation.

A quick google states that items bought after Oct 24th can be returned up until end of Jan in the extended Xmas returns.

Ah thankyou so much. I don't know why that didn't come up for me 🫤

Yes the barcodes are on the clear bag, which was discarded when the jumper was wrapped up.

Even if it’s not within the returns window (which is should be as it’s Christmas) they usually give gift cards for returns. I then buy things with that gift card and if i return those it goes against my account instead of back to the gift card balance. I buy and return a lot from next.

FurForksSake · 26/12/2025 22:39

The card swing tag is all that is needed. Even if you don’t have that, stick it in the next delivery bag you get with the sticker that one comes with and go on to your account and arrange the return. It will get back to them fine.

She wants to swap it for a different one :)

It’s probably easier to go in store and do it. Or return and re purchase. You’ll be fine.

Sorry, meant on the swing ticket.

I’ve returned items with no receipt at both Next and M&S and was given a gift card/store credit. It was really easy and no issue at all.

mummyh2016 · 26/12/2025 22:53

Next are really good. Even out of the normal returns period they’ll refund to a refund card (not a gift card as slightly annoying you can’t use refund cards to pay off your next account).

Mum2Fergus · 26/12/2025 22:54

You’d be better to check with Next surely.

BlackCat14 · 26/12/2025 23:02

Take it back to store, I’m sure you’ll be fine. In September I was gifted some clothes from Next for my new baby but the giver had bought 3-6months but they were summery clothes, but as he was born in August, he’s wearing his 3-6 stuff now and he wants cosy wintery things. So at the end of Sept I took them back with no recipt or proof of purchase (they did have tags on though). The cashier gave me a credit note for the value, no problems at all.

I bought a prom dress for my daughter and she changed her mind about it a couple of weeks before prom. I’d bought it about 4 months before and they gave me a voucher for the amount, so I’m sure they’ll help you with this.
