Cot bed (for ex-co sleeper) - slats or no slats?

Hello,

I was hoping to get recommendations for a good cot bed for our one year old child. They currently co sleep and there seem to be so many options - Snuzkot like the bedside crib we had, or the Stokke Sleepi looks nice but an investment. Is slatted at the ends beneficial? Otherwise seems like it could be a bit claustrophobic when lying down and seeing these tall ends of solid wood? I certainly wouldn't like it as an adult!

Advice is very welcome! Thank you

Just cut straight to a double bed. Your future self will thank you when you haven't gone through the cot, single bed, high sleeper, then double like I did.

That would be great as we do have a spare double already... but what do you do for naps? How can it be made safe for a baby to be in a double/non cot with no adult next to them?

Mine were in a cot until about 18 months then a bed. I had a bed rail / guard. Really once they are climbing and walking you can't keep them in. The guard is there in case they roll out in the night.
The big benefit of a double if you already co-sleep is that you can still do that sometimes, especially if they are ill, just not in your bed.
