Huffman Time - an American family that moved to Russia

The YouTube algorithm gods brought this up for me and I'm mesmerised. Earlier this year the Huffman parents took their three daughters from America to Russia, seeking a country that better supported their Christian traditional values, freedom and an escape from the liberal, LGBTQ agenda of American society.

Between them they have three young adult sons who have not joined them.

The dad is an engineer and enrolled in the army to gain citizenship. That seems to have worked out as well as you can imagine.

It's absolutely baffling and horrifying.

Will check out when I have time

Holluschickie · 26/12/2025 14:50

😮 I must watch.

Thelittlegreyone · 26/12/2025 14:53

I really want to discuss it and hear people's opinions.

I have heard of this phenomenon, but am aware that it often fails to deliver what people such as this are looking for.

smallglassbottle · 26/12/2025 15:22

I've just watched the video about them and they're typical American protestants who imagine everyone in the world is fluffy and rainbow unicorn coloured. Russian society is very tough and the authorities lie and are corrupt. Most of them aren't practicing Orthodox Christians and they're totally unconcerned with the welfare of their citizens.

They'll end up going home, lamenting the fact that it wasn't all they thought it was.

Thelittlegreyone · 26/12/2025 15:32

They haven't voiced any regrets yet (I am jumping back and forth in their timeline). I think the older girl(s) seem to be having less fun in recent videos, but that could be their age. I agree with comments that dad on leave from the army has a bit of a "thousand yard stare" not seen in videos beforehand.

In addition to being horrified by some of their decisions and opinions, I find the mum quite unlikeable.

I've just had a look and they're thick bigots who have put their children at risk. They'll never be able to leave.

Thelittlegreyone · 26/12/2025 18:55

God, there are a few channels. There's a Canadian family who seem to have returned to Canada for a holiday. It's all a bit confusing.

I would be interested in seeing this, I do wonder why Russia.

I would be interested in seeing this, I do wonder why Russia.

From what I've seen today:

  • Strong leadership from Putin, moving the country in the right direction.
  • Christian country with Christian values.
  • None of this woke nonsense.
  • No LGBTQ+ agenda being forced down their necks and no porn in school libraries.
  • A country where they are free to live their lives how they choose, unlike in America.

It's absolutely bizarre.

Oh I am FOLLOWING this thread! The whole thing is bizarre and Reddit have had lots of threads about this family (and others). He was conscripted then…….nothing. No contact. Everyone speculated he was dead, the wife denied it, then suddenly he reappeared. They’re fools. I think there are two older sons still in the US?

Pride is a strong motivator here.

I wonder if they are allowed to return to the US? Where is their money?

DallasMajor · 26/12/2025 19:45

@Thelittlegreyone thanks. There must be other countries that fit this bill but are also a little less extreme!

I am going to try and watch tomorrow, thanks for starting the thread.

Thelittlegreyone · 26/12/2025 19:57

They do have a BEAUTIFUL fence though.

A long-awaited video has just been released. I don't know what to make of it. For example, she explains her lack of posts as being due to a hectic life (fine, especially when your husband is serving in the Russian Army) and the 10 hour time difference (huh?).
