My Christmas dinner was cooked by me and all homemade. I was very pleased with my roasties this year!

Sprouts with bacon

Swede
Peas
Gravey

Dessert was sherry trifle and a cheesboard.

Roast beef
Chestnut stuffing ( more for today’s bubble and squeak)

Goose breast - medium rare (1)
Home-made cranberry sauce
Home-made apple, prune, citrus and chestnut stuffing
Rosemary / goose fat roast potatoes
Cumin roast parsnip and carrots
Pigs in blankets
Pan fried Brussels sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta
Accompanied by goose gravy made from the carcass on Christmas Eve. The remaining goose has then been used to make a goose soup that will probably become a cassoulet-style meal.

(1) For a change this year we butchered the goose and cooked the breast like a duck breast (pan fried). The rest of the goose was confit in its own fat in a very low oven (with garlic, rosemary, thyme, and some star anise). The remaining carcass

We only cooked bits of it as we weren't hungry enough for the full lot by the time we got round to cooking.

Husband’s made from scratch butter chicken and naan. Was delicious.

Lobster in herb butter. Fillet steak with jacket potato and salads. Home made raspberry cheesecake.

Christmas pudding, cream, ice cream. My son, poor chap, doesn't like Christmas pudding so had lemon cheesecake and raspberries.

The cheesecake and ice cream were bought. I made everything else. It was a success! We had a good day and lots of leftovers now.

It was all pretty standard fare.

Stuffed supreme of guinea fowl, Sarladaise potatoes, roast grenaille potatoes, parsnips, brussel sprouts with chestnuts, mushroom sauce. Just me. It was lovely!

Turkey, gravy, creamy mashed potato, roast potato’s, chestnut stuffing, mashed turnip, maple roasted carrots, cranberry sauce and cauliflower cheese. Pigs in blankets were burnt and I forgot to get sprouts.
