Ipad help pleeeeease

Ds has an ipad for christmas. Its our first apple device it wont seem to let me do ANYTHING without an adults apple id, which i dont have. Cant create one. Cant download apps.

Pleeeease can soneone help me through this 😭

why can't you create one- what's happening when you try? Have you tried on your own device?

Using a gmail email address worked for me when other things failed. You can quickly create a gmail account if you don't have one.

Create it on another device obviously and write down the password

I dont have an apple device and its just not giving me the option. It wants me to "link to family"

I do have gmail. But it just emailed me nonsense. No link ir anything.

It seems that i can. He cant download anything without my approval. I have to say i was apprehensive but really couldnt find another way around it.
