No, I don’t like waking up to the smell of cooked meat in the morning.
did it once and the whole house hummed with the scent of Turkey and I couldn’t face doing it again!!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 24/12/2025 21:37

No. I don’t want it reheated.

DappledThings · 24/12/2025 21:41

No prep whatsoever ahead of the day. I know lots of people do but the idea of veg sitting around for hours and hours peeled and in water or pre-cooked gives me a bit of the ick

The oven will turn on about 4am to cook the turkey

Oxo01 · 24/12/2025 21:44

We have done both some years
Ie: cook a leg of lamb night before and turkey on xmas morning.
Both have been ok but I do like my meat cold so never reheat it anyway.

No, I've never understood the point. I know it can take hours but if you put it in the oven in the morning it's always cooked in plenty of time and then is freshly cooked rather than reheated.

Beef done, may have to try and bit just to make sure its OK for tomorrow

IndieRocknRoll · 24/12/2025 21:52

No, always cook the turkey first thing on Xmas morning. I’ve prepped the sprouts/carrots and cooked the red cabbage & ham though. We’ll eat the ham cold over the next week so doesn’t really matter if it’s cooked before Xmas day.

Gammon done and eaten hot tonight, leftovers cold over Christmas. Turkey will be cooked in the morning

twitchypalm · 24/12/2025 21:56

Ive just taken tbe turkey out of the oven. Beef and Gammon are on cooking. DH got all the veg ready this evening. Makes for a nice chilled christmas day. We jave always done it like this.

Well other half has now decided to cook the turkey and leg of lamb tonight.

Doesn't bother me as like I said I wont reheat my meat anyway just have gravey on it.

I will do all veg etc tomorrow

We have beef as well but think we have decided not to cook it as fewer people coming tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy your feasts and and have a lovely Xmas
