Does anyone wrap in bed?

Just bought up a few bits to wrap, was going to do it on my office floor where I’ve done the rest of it but my bedroom door was wide open and my bed was luring me to sit on it…
So now I’m here under my heated blanket - is wrapping on the bed a shit idea? I’ve not got many square box type things, a few awkward items which probably won’t ever look super neat… is this a bad idea? Is everything going to look like it’s been wrapped by a toddler? 🫣
also contemplating how much I care…

No I do it on my bed watching tv. I put an atlas on the bed if I need a firm surface at any point.

TiredofLDN · 23/12/2025 21:22

Oh and my wrapping looks quite nice I think! Certainly doesn’t look like a child did it!

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 21:27

Perfect, that’s exactly what I was hoping to hear, thanks! I mean an atlas or a big book of some kind is excellent advice for anyone else considering this but I don’t have one to hand and I’m already in bed with no real plans to move SO I’m just chancing it without 😂

I think you really need a hard flat surface…

SapphireOpal · 23/12/2025 21:29

I'd be worried about cutting the bedding with the scissors

tsmainsqueeze · 23/12/2025 21:32

I always wrap presents on my bed and also use a big book for a flat surface.
I have a bag next to me to put rubbish in as i go and i have something on the tv to watch as i wrap.

SatsumaCandlesCloves · 23/12/2025 21:35

Oh yes but with a lap tray and TV

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 22:18

@user593 i generally agree with you, have never wrapped in bed before!
However this has gone well so far. I’ve got the telly on and I’m really comfy and cosy under my heated blanket and dh has said he’ll sleep in the spare room if he comes to bed before I’m done! He has done all his wrapping (smug git 😂).
and @SapphireOpal this was also a concern but I’ve just lifted the paper slightly before cutting so actually all fine.

Initially I thought you’d spelled ‘wrap’ incorrectly and were actually YouTubing to the hiphop community. After actually reading the post (which was so very apt for me tonight) I became interested as to what you’d wrapped.

Indeed I wrapped a few pressies on my bed tonight. They were a bloody mess but my 4 yo grandson won’t care. Wouldn’t wrap a ‘serious’ present on my bed, too much give and the fleece blanket kept rucking up. I cannot be arsed with planning bed wrapping as it was just a spontaneous act this evening, and I don’t think I’d recommend it. Back killed me🤦🏻‍♀️

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 22:36

@Isthisit2025 😂😂😂 I wish I was bringing some hip hop to bed,
would be more fun than wrapping!

Yeah there are a couple of bits that I’ve decided can wait until tomorrow but a lot of it was for small toddler nieces and nephews in seeing tomorrow and then a couple of bits for my sister and her husband. Stuff for my mil can wait until the morning.

I bought up all the paper and accoutrements in the wrapping bag, the selotape
dispenser and scissors and pens for writing the tags, its all here but I’m losing my mojo now that I’m over the bulk of it.
going to do 2 more things, the problem with being comfy in bed is I keep getting distracted on my phone and lying down!

@TheChosenTwo anything is more fun than wrapping😩I’m of an age where I am unable to sustain certain positions long enough to wrap neatly. Fair play to you for bringing the festive season to your bedroom (it rarely reaches there) I’ll stick to a table and sturdy upright chair. Oh to be flexible again!

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 22:56

I actually do enjoy wrapping and don’t like to do it early as it’s one of the bits I like to take my time over close to Christmas with some festive bangers blasting and do nice ribbons and bits but I just got lured in by my lovely cosy bed 😂
and a bit caught out this year as despite knowing the date I’ve not felt festive or ready or been prepared at all, did most of my shopping on Saturday and then a shit load of ordering some boxes and parcels have been showing up in their droves.

I use the ironing board to wrap.

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 23:20

@goingtotown ive seen a few recommendations for this but i just don’t see it working for me. Its so narrow for a start and then im constantly chopping and changing papers depending on who im wrapping for so generally the floor works best for me as everything is accessible right next to me. I’d be up and down if i was sitting at the ironing board and things would be flying off it left right and centre.
Glad it works well for you though; anything that helps is a win at this stage in the game.

Recipe for disaster quite frankly

Bits of sellotape on the pillows, shards of paper in the bed, bits of glitter on the bedspread.

Cautiouswalrus · 23/12/2025 23:24

On the bed with the ironing board folded flat!
