Half Christmas Day alone

I have been divorced for 12 years and we share the children on Christmas Day, as we live close by to each other. Sometimes I'll have the children for Christmas Eve and first half of Christmas Day or other years after lunch Christmas Day and then Boxing Day.

I don't have family, so I spend the rest of the day alone. When the children were younger, I did feel strange being alone on such a 'family' day, but these past few years I enjoy it and plan certain things to do, like a certain movie I'd like to watch etc.

Does anyone else spent Christmas Day, or part of Christmas Day alone?

I’m alone this time until 11! First time for me.

Yep. I get a few hours middle of the day. I love it. I chill for a bit then make Xmas dinner for ds coming home. Glad you said you are happy with it!

The early years were hard but we've fallen into a normal routine now and it's best for DS.

Yes. My dd goes to her dads at 3pm and I get her back at 3pm on Boxing Day. I am never sure how I'll feel, some years it's been fine and I've enjoyed it, (obviously would rather have her with me) I'm feeling a little sadder this year in general, so a bit worried, but fingers crossed it will be ok.
Ive got a hopefully good book, some Lego and some nice chocolate. I do have some nice wine in too, but think sensibly I may skip that this year.

i have the option to go to my families once kids have gone to their dads but to be totally honest, i am exhausted by the time they've left.
