Anyone braved Tesco in the past hour?

Heading to Tesco to do Christmas shop in an hour and wondering how manic it will be.
Usually I’d go as soon as it opens Christmas Eve and it is empty, but have too much to do Christmas Eve as have to face the huge queue at the butchers to pick up the goose and then to the fishmongers to pick up our order.

So, how bad is it today??

Mine was busy as to be expected. Just braved it with a list and scan and go makes it easier. I hate putting it all away when I get home.

mindutopia · 23/12/2025 10:51

😬 I was there at 6:30am yesterday and it was busy but manageable. Godspeed.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 23/12/2025 10:54

I drove past the local Tesco Extra about an hour ago and there was a long queue just to get into the car park. Based on that, and the fact that when I did my shop there at 7am yesterday and it was as busy as an average Saturday lunchtime, I think you'll be looking at somewhere between "rammed" and "bedlam". Good luck!

hby9628 · 23/12/2025 10:55

My mum was there. She said car park was busy but the shop itself was fine. I think the roads etc seem quieter today than yesterday. Good luck!

drivinmecrazy · 23/12/2025 10:57

Yep, I have a list and am self scanning.
Have warned the family if it’s not on the list it’s not going in the trolley so hopefully as organised as I can be 🤞

If you Google Tesco near me and select your local store it tells you how busy it is... Our local one is Twice as busy as normal

Grit your teeth once it's done you can hopefully relax.

Just come back from ours....it was busy but not impossibly so and all manageable. They had everything I wanted, and although the aisles were full, there was still enough room to see the food and pick up stuff. The car park wasn't too bad either, I actually thought they'd be queuing to get in but no, easy to enter and park. Good luck!

TheNightingalesStarling · 23/12/2025 11:15

It was packed. Especially the meat and alcohol aisles. The customers, the online order pickers, plus staff trying to restock.

The checkouts were very quick though.

TheDandyLion · 23/12/2025 11:22

Look at Google maps it tells you how busy it is.

sanityisamyth · 23/12/2025 11:24

I did a click and collect. Was the only one there, and it was ready straightaway. Everything that I ordered was present and no subs. Perfect!

piscofrisco · 23/12/2025 11:24

I went yesterday and it was bedlam

xanthomelana · 23/12/2025 11:32

Been braving it since 3am this morning and still have a few hours left. We are busy but we were expecting it, today was forecast as the busiest trading day of Christmas.

Lordofthewing · 23/12/2025 11:34

Just got back from Watford Tesco. It was busy but queues were moving reasonably well.

Skimama123 · 23/12/2025 11:34

I just got back, it was busy but not crazy, maybe 2-3 people queuing at each normal till. I only had a few bits to get so went to self checkout and walked straight through.

Maryberrysbouffant · 23/12/2025 11:37

Mine was ok this morning, busy but manageable

LemonadeQueen · 23/12/2025 11:39

Currently working in an Extra. Its busy but not hectic. Everything Currently in stock. Home shopping have finished. Queues at checkouts and self serve & bit of a queue in carpark. More busy at 6am than it is now though as pp said alcohol and fridge areas congested.

guestusername · 23/12/2025 11:47

I’m just back from Morrisons. The car park was full and we had to drive round a couple of times but the shop itself wasn’t any busier than on a Saturday lunchtime

They were all out of sprouts though!

BernadetteJune · 23/12/2025 13:30

Went 4pm yesterday and it was absolutely packed! Just think "It's Christmas" - smile at people, apologise if you knock someone with your trolley, be kind to anyone who is struggling (elderly, people with young children) . . . and you will be fine. Happy Christmas🎄⛄🍾

Fizbosshoes · 23/12/2025 13:35

We went at 7.45am today and it wasnt awful, I heard a member of staff say that it was actually busier at 6am (i think its open 24 hours)
DH was pressuring me to go earlier so I felt vindicated that it was busier earlier! 🤣
(It's the only time we go together because he often overlooks things he doesnt like, or says he cant find them, and i wasnt prepared to go out again later for a back up shop of everything he missed)

4forksache · 23/12/2025 13:38

Just been. It was busy but not too bad. I did self scan and there was no queue at checkout. Main problem was people getting in the way of where you want to look.

rosydreams · 23/12/2025 13:41

I am not looking forward to this we were supposed to go to grandmas but one year old threw up this morning. So now i need sort out Christmas
