woke up this morning to a message on our group whatsapp chat. GD, gramma, please, can you come home for Christmas. Me... sorry kiddo that is kind of short notice (we live a 5 hr flight and a two hour drive from the arrival airport away from them) GD.. but GMA!!!!! we haven't had a good christmas dinner since you left, Dad's turkey sucks and they never make prime rib like you used to do as well!! GS pipes into the chat... and mom's vegetables are just like mush. uuggghhhh our parents cannot cook... rescue us GMA , I started my day with a big smile on my face. Anyone else have some silly grands (these 2 are 15 and 16 yrs old. lol) for the record, they will have GMA's cooking for 2 weeks in feb.

Are you sure the big smile on your face wasn't due to an early foray into the eggnog?

BurntOrangeAutumn · 23/12/2025 10:54

That's lovely! So nice they're missing you so much

Aww you should get right on a plane and go there. Imagine their faces. (I know you can't but it's a nice dream)

How lovely that they love and miss you

They sound pretty rude, slagging off their parents cooking like that when they are presumably in the same chat.

It’s wonderful when your teenage grandchildren want to spend time with you.

their parents are not in the same chat, and believe me, the parents also slag off their own cooking, they are both pretty bad at it, and admit it. They have however managed to keep the kids alive lol. My daughter can make a few dishes really well, my son in law is the king of chicken nuggets. I would not take the piss out of them if they did not do it themselves also lol. I booked my feb trip up to them last month, my son in laws reaction? Thank god, we will be eating well for a couple weeks. It is all in fun.
