I believe the soloist is only told they are going to be doing it just before the performance, imagine being their parent, you don't know whether it will be your child then that beautiful clear voice rings out!

Of course, it always has been and always should be!

I wonder if any soloist has had the top gig twice?

I heard they just tap someone on the shoulder on the way in!

It’s the best bit of Christmas for me, I absolutely love it.
