Not flu but a really awful cold!

Anyone else have or had this? I’ve felt truly awful since last Wednesday, rotten cold, a banging head but also waves of nausea that come and go all day long. It’s never ending and every night I go to bed dosed up thinking I’ll feel better in the morning and I don’t. Not really looking for advice just wondering if anyone else has had it and how long it lasted, I’m so behind with Christmas now and we go away for a few days on Boxing Day, I need help!!

I had the flu jab in October of that makes any difference.

Yes. I felt terrible for a week. My husband has been unwell for a fortnight.... Good luck, Op.

I don’t have a cold but a deep barking cough and loss of voice. Low grade fever on and off and legs feel like I’ve run a marathon. Joints in hands become painful again which had improved with high dose steroids as I have palindromic rheumatism but now it’s back. I’m not sure if how I
feel is dulled due to the suppressed immune system from oral steroids but it’s been a week today since the tickle started and two days of coughing. Seems to be playing out very slowly. Is yours? My Mum has the same symptoms as you OP and my Dad too and he is in south east Asia so it’s doing the rounds all over the world. I’m not quite sure what’s happened this year. People are dropping like flies!

I'm on day 9 today and showing no signs of improving.

The actual cough / cold / temperature has gone but I'm unable to eat (zero appetite, nausea) and zero energy.

Everyday I expect to feel better and today I actually feel worse.

I am just about over mine - it was a classic cold - scratchy sore throat monday evening, tuesday became a cough, wednesday the snot started with a fever overnight. Thurs, Fri Saturday I felt like death warmed up, sweating profusely at night - managed to go to work (office on my own) and walk the dog but nothing else. Gradually over the past 9 days its cleared up - still got a really chesty cough once a day but everything else is OK.

Sorry that you’re all suffering as well, it’s bloody horrible. I’ve had it since Thursday so 6 days and I’m not feeling any better yet, I’ve also had the night sweats and zero appetite but weirdly no cough.

Hope you all feel better soon.

That probably is the flu tbh, just a milder dose than some people are getting because you have the jab. It’s only got a 30 per cent prevention rate this year but it’s stopping hospitalisations

Yes, I've felt so poorly for just over 2 weeks now. I'm just starting to turn a corner I think but it's very up and down.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 23/12/2025 21:43

Sounds like a lot like the symptoms of the flu which is going round tbh.

Current covid strain has these symptoms. I had covid, also awful headache and nausea. I felt like in early pregnancy
