Am off to New York in January, child free and just for a few days but with a big Luggage allowance. We will also have a car.
DH has promised me a shopping day and I really want to go to target. I’ve never been before - so wise MN, what should I buy?!

also recommendations of other shops to visit and what to get in them very welcome - we are staying with family in Jersey city if that helps with locations!

thanks in advance!

I should add my DD is coeliac and we’ve been told to get Chex cereal as it’s like shreddies but GF.
melatonin was on my list and I’ll add paracetamol and ibuprofen 🤣

you will be wanting some gluten free oreos then.

I used to get the Yes To toiletries range on visits to target. Check out what the latest drug store cosmetics go to range is at the moment. If you are into thrifting there’s an excellent guided thrift store tour on Airbnb experiences which is great.

Trader Joes!! I love it! We discovered it next to the hotel and realised it’s a thing. Bagel seasoning, tote bags, peanut clusters to name a few It’s a bit like Aldi so no brands and cheaper bur more quirky stuff. The tote backs are legendary and about $5. Bring a few back and sell them! We got a classic one and cheese one. My friends teen is desperate to one now. Pecan pralines are to die for.

clothes- tk maxx - marshals is cheaper than UK and can get better brands for less. Yeti, Levi’s and crocs were super cheap.

target - didn’t get there but they do loads of travel minis.

tik tok will have suggestions.

food is crazy prices. Double the UK for most things. We tend to buy the stuff that isn’t available in the UK like Fanta and the bright orange cheese crisps and blocks of velveeta cheese for the BBQ. We always pay for an extra case coming home or fly business on points.

Thank you all for all the suggestions - we just got home from our trip which was fab and we managed to visit lots of places and do plenty of shopping!

I picked up lots of tide pens, some bits in old navy for the kids, loads of sweets (not all unusual such as m&ms but the “valentines blend” as the kids will love all the pinks!) got heavily discounted coats in Columbia, Oakley joggers, adidas trainers. Absolutely raided the dollar spot in target and got some pretty bits from their other sections, and got a good trader joes Haul including totes!!

was so grateful for all the suggestions as they helped me put together a list and find some good influencers to have a nosey at for the “latest finds in target” etc!

Be careful if you go again since cheese is an illegal item to bring back with you,
