This person gets themselves things when they need it so are not wanting for anything necessarily at christmas.....

but they have an classic vw campervan that they work on at the weekends. They have tools and buy parts as needed.

Any suggestions please of gift ideas....any??? haha

Im thinking a light torch that can wear on head (he may already have one lol)

Fat face had classic campervan socks. Next clearance section sometimes has the 5 pack half price

I don’t know what your budget is, but if it’s quite a lot, then see if Snap On do vouchers. There are tools and there are tools. Snap On are what actual mechanics use, but they are not cheap.

Otherwise, a bucket filled with a couple of sponges, a chamois leather, the biggest pack of dusters you can find (the brightly coloured ones that are quite thick, not the yellow ones as they don’t last long as rags), a pack of curved needles and upholstery thread, a small flask or insulated cup (maybe a camping or plastic one that won’t smash when it gets balanced somewhere stupid) or some of those bottles from Sainsburys that you use to clean upholstery, tyres, dashboards etc. Obviously, pick and choose depending on your budget, but any of those things will go down well for a mechanic based gift. We have a couple of mechanics and the ones who do buying, restoring and selling are always happy with that sort of stuff.

A grabby tool, handy in case they drop something fiddly when they’re tinkering.
Telescopic inspection mirror

You can get both on Amazon for around £6 each

Maybe a bit late to order for this Xmas, but for future reference Vantastic in Cornwall specialise in good quality T shirts with designs inspired by van life. They're also an excellent price.

Thank you all!! I've also found a site that recommended a breakdown repair kit with list of items so I've started on with that too. Much love all

I bought DH a book (will check title) called something like Van Life which showed some awesome conversions... possibly something to inspire him?

These 2 things have been amazing and used all the time in my old VW van

Solar charging retractable lights. Can also use as a lamp https://amzn.eu/d/e8Gdjh6

and reusable silicone cable ties https://amzn.eu/d/eoaorOy

I keep them in my van all the time

Swarfega?

Please please don’t buy novelty campervan socks or anything like that. I’ve just taken a load to the charity shops that people keep buying for DH.

I don’t bother trying to buy surprises for him as he always wants some really specific part for Christmas and birthday presents.

He does appreciate good quality tools. The Halfords professional range are a good mid budget option.

a head torch as a PP mentioned is always welcome as he keeps losing them.

Tinkers with or actually goes away in the camper?

Tools and the such like are one thing, gadgets for when away are another.
