Sainsburys food to order - anyone know how it works in store?

Can anyone tell me if Sainsbury’s take the remaining payment for a Christmas food to order automatically or do you have to pay for the remaining balance in person when you collect?

You pay when you collect - they’ll give you a voucher for the deposit and then you’ll need to scan the bits through the checkout. It works well and the stores are normally set up sensibly for the actual collection.

Thank you, so you can use a different card to the one you paid the deposit on. Do you scan the deposit voucher as a coupon type thing to deduct the £20 at the till?

Yep you can use a different card. And yes you do scan it but I can’t remember at which point of checking out - I normally use the self scan checkouts so potentially as a coupon.

Yes , it's a coupon which sometimes doesn't work but the staff just came and sorted it out. Usually works pretty well. Oh and you can change things. If you see a better turkey on the shelf you can swap it around.

Oh this is great to hear, I’m very concerned that my turkey is going to be far too small! It can be anything from serves 3-7 which I didn’t realise at the time!
