Dd22 months fever not reducing

She’s got such a chesty cough, had a fever since Wednesday night that calpol and ibuprofen was lowering slightly, but this morning her temp is 39.2 and ibuprofen hasn’t worked, I’m going to try Calpol soon, and also waiting for the doctors to open. I’m worried she’s got this flu going around.

Other than the temp how is she ? Is she is taking in fluids ?
I don't think a high temperature it's self an issue if she is comfortable, keep eye she doesn't get dehydrated. Hope she better for Christmas

She’s not herself, has little spurts of energy but nowhere near what she is normally like. Shes just had a nibble of toast but she’s barely ate the last couple of days, also not really interested in fluids. Worried sick

Yes waiting until they open at 8am. She’s breathing white fast too so I’m wondering if it’s a chest Infection?

Impossible to say but if she’s breathing quickly I would call 111. You need to her seen now, not post on here

firstofallimadelight · 19/12/2025 07:05

I’d get an emergency appointment for today. The breathing and lack of fluids are a concern.

I think she might need antibiotics? If the fever isn’t reducing now that to me says her body is struggling. Omg we moved house yesterday aswell what a mare!

So I took dd to the gp, chest is clear, ears seem okay, throat is a little red but he couldn’t see much as he could barely get the spatula in her mouth because she was fighting so hard. He thinks a viral throat infection. She is just so poorly, temp is still climbing to 39.5

So worrying for you OP and so stressful for you if you just moved house as well. I remember ours when they were little with temperatures like that and then just as suddenly they bounced back. I would keep on with the calpol and fluids and don’t worry about food.
