Where do you buy your everyday jewellery from?

I need some new everyday jewellery such as basic hoops, a simple necklace etc that won't break the bank but is good quality too.

Where are we all shopping? Are there any hidden gems you can recommend?

For everyday bits I try to get proper gold usually from an independent jeweller as it will be worn a lot and is much less likely to cause irritation. Notonthehighstreet has some good ones. I love Oliver Bonas for occasional statement/party pieces

Any cheap earrings make my ears itch after a few days and I don’t buy them at all now. 18ct gold doesn’t do it and lasts a lifetime. I’ve never lost and earring. I find decent gold ones have secure butterflies or securing systems that don’t move. That’s another sign of quality. I like small diamond hoops and add drops to ring the changes. They don’t wear, come adrift or look like they come from Tesco. They are an investment for a lifetime.

I also buy from Silver Rain. They have some pretty “whimsical” stuff but also some more classical studs/hoops. Looks more expensive than it is. And unlike my more expensive jewellery, I actually wear it because I’m not so scared it will get lost.

I have a cobalt allergy and have to be really careful with jewellery but don’t react to their products.

Another vote for Martha Jackson, if you like silver - really good selection of basics and more quirky designs.

I tend to wear mainly solid gold and silver. I have a few special pieces but for everyday basics, I recommend Jewellery Box, Seol Gold, Old English Jewellers (on eBay) and Silver Rain (Etsy) – all good value.

I don’t recommend Bohomoon at all. The earrings I bought all tarnished within a few months and I sent them back for replacements. You can find exactly the same tat on Shein/AliExpress for almost nothing.

Thing is, costume jewellery gets tarnished so easily and looks a bit rubbish quickly. I've got a tangle of things in my jewellery box that I loved at the time but are all broken or otherwise unwearable.

I only wear silver but my silver jewellery is at least 15 years old and still looks lovely.

Gold is expensive at the moment but if thats what you wear second hand is good value. My local jeweller has loads of second hand stuff. I got my engagement ring ( white gold) from there for £200!

Lines and Current, Astley Clarke and Monica Vinader. I wear items from them every day both to shower and sleep in and they haven't tarnished at all. I haven't taken my Lines and Current chain necklace off in 18 months and it still looks perfect.

For better quality pieces I really rate Ramsdens second hand jewellers and I've had no issue buying online from them.

I just bought a couple of gold necklaces from a brand called By Rae during the black Monday sales... I did a lot of research, and I decided to buy from here as all their pieces are made from 14k PVD gold plated stainless steel. The PVD plating is superior to normal gold plating as it's more durable and doesn't tarnish. The pieces I bought are lovely and I was happy to support a UK small business 😊

If I wanted gold or antique pieces I'd go to an independent jeweller, not a chain, so I could talk about the origin of the specific item and the hallmarks etc, and have rings or necklaces sized correctly.

For office work etc I'd tend to wear more glass/fabric/enamel/resin etc colourful costume jewellery and that is available everywhere - department stores, high street, craft markets, etsy, gift shops at museums etc etc.

Good to know my jewellery box is full of 'tat' 😂

QVC - mainly silver Diamonique either rhodium or platinum plated

I have a silver Russian Wedding ring from TopShop that I love ( it's a tactile ring ) I'd love one in gold but it would be ££

Orelia but the waterproof/tanish free pieces - quite affordable and well made

Dower and Hall are sold by John Lewis. Everyday but not that interesting,

I have a pair of silver earrings from Dinny Hall (she’s the Hall) that I bought in the 80s. They are still as good as ever and wear them often.
