Where do you buy your everyday jewellery from?

I need some new everyday jewellery such as basic hoops, a simple necklace etc that won't break the bank but is good quality too.

Where are we all shopping? Are there any hidden gems you can recommend?

@SalmonOnFinnCrispooh I think I need some of those diamonds!

Forever1973 · 18/12/2025 21:28

Most of mine is vintage, from antique shops/junk stalls. I think most modern high street jewellery is overpriced for what you get. I've got a couple of lab diamond things which seem better value (and more ethical).

Why can't some people on here answer the question being asked without being patronising? Or simply not reply?

Denim4ever · 18/12/2025 21:45

DH buys me nice stuff from local independent jewellers. I like vintage items from craft fairs. I also kept some of my mother's items. They are fairly traditional and were probably from high street jewellers but somehow look more interesting because they are vintage. A couple of pendants with photos in that I really just kept for sentimental reasons have often been admired. One is definitely H Samuel 🤣

Plate jewellery is going to wear through, so I think there’s no point buying anything expensive, I have some nice necklaces from accessorize, gold plate, £15-20, I can’t justify gold, so expensive and sadly the couple of pieces I had I’ve lost, I’ve relatives that have had all their jewellery stolen, which was so upsetting, the real deal seems like a liability, even if I had the money.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/12/2025 22:02

I found a lovely jade necklace - just plain green beads - in the British Museum shop.

Supersimkin7 · 18/12/2025 22:07

Maria Black, Danish design that looks modern but not barmy.

Pollyanna87 · 18/12/2025 22:16

Antique shops.

IHeartJeff · 18/12/2025 22:21

I came to say Tesco & Primark. I’ll see myself out of the thread.

Silver Rain Silver. They sell sterling silver, gold, and rose gold, I think? But their prices and selection are great. They explain that the reason they’re able to keep it so inexpensive (beautiful silver climber earrings for £9.95) is because they use a lost wax casting process (make a wax cast, pour the metal in, then just break the mold).

They have something for almost everything including cute little axolotl or penguin earrings for DC (and those of us young at heart).

Boho moon is my fave everyday. Just as good (better?) than vermeil from Missoma / Astrid & Miuy, Monica vinander etc.

DawnBreaks · 18/12/2025 22:28

Bohomoon. I've become quite an addict lately! Their pieces are guaranteed not to fade or tarnish and so far so good with mine! I've had rings that I've showered/swim in for over a year now and they are still as good as new. Apparently they are PVD plated stainless steel. You can choose gold/silver/rose gold items. For everyday wear I love them! AND they don't cost a fortune. I have a 'fake' engagement ring for wearing on holiday which works very well.

You beat me with the Bohomoon recommendation by 2 mins! :-)

Have a look on ‘Etsy’ or ‘Not on the High Street’ for some nice bespoke or handmade pieces. Alternatively I’ve bought every day jewellery from ‘Martha Jackson’ and ‘Silver Rain’.

My prettiest 'cocktail' type watch was £14 from ASDA. Of course the plating is wearing off a bit, but you have to look closely to see it

I like Miss Milly jewellery, available in shops & online.

This will sound snooty but I only have good quality jewelry and that’s what I wear every day. I have one or two pieces that rarely come out of the safe, but otherwise everything is worn. What’s the point of having it otherwise? It’s bit like having “best” clothes - what’s the point? Buy the best you can afford and wear it!

All to say: buy simple hoops but excellent quality ones which will last a lifetime and wear them. Go to a reputable jeweler.

I’m the opposite! I spend a lot of money on decent jewellery, but hoops I’ve found better the cheaper they are! I don’t wear them everyday though.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 18/12/2025 23:35

The last item I bought was a sterling silver Rennie Mackintosh style ring from a car boot sale for a fiver.

Cheaper hoops tend to be lighter because they're hollow - I find this more comfortable. I have a solid silver pair of creoles and they look nice but I'm always conscious of the weight on my earlobes.

coolcahuna · 19/12/2025 08:03

Small local jeweller. I have some diamond studs which I wear every day. Then some gold pendants I swap around on a chain. My favourite one is a St Christopher gold coin. No point spending on brands, you're just paying for marketing. Then I have the odd thing from places like Oliver Bonas or Olivia Burton

Tkmaxx do some beautiful jewellery.

Agree

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 18/12/2025 15:05

Oliver Bonas, Astrid & Miju, Moniker Vinader?

I think Oliver Bonas is very overpriced for everything & not great quality.

luckylavender · 19/12/2025 08:08

I don’t think there is one answer to this. You can find nice pieces all over the place.

hidinginthebathroomagain · 19/12/2025 08:12

Martha Jackson

SwedishEdith · 19/12/2025 08:53

Cos and Arket do nice looking jewellery and you can find it on Vinted. I've not got any so can't vouch for the quality. I lose earrings a lot so would worry about expensive ones. And I want them to be light so they don't drag my ear lobe down.
