Advice re London restaurants please

My 19 year old niece is coming over from Australia in February. My 83 year old mother and myself are travelling to meet her and her BF. In London for one day. We are thinking of going to either the V&A or the British Museum as weather unlikely to lend itself to outside activities.

We'd like to go somewhere for lunch near either of those locations. Preferably not a chain restaurant. Ideally somewhere not too cramped and where main courses are around the £25 mark. She's vegetarian, BF isn't.

She was due to come over earlier this year and I was going to meet her in Covent Garden. I got loads of lovely restaurant suggestions from MNers then, but she was ill and couldn't come. I'm hoping she makes it this time!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

What kind of cuisine are you looking for? I have a few suggestions around either of those museums!

Ognisko polish restaurant is close and really lovely. (I’m not polish!)

Or Margaux ?

If you want somewhere near the British Museum then Circolo Popolare would work with a veggie in tow. It can be a bit noisy though. If you want something quieter then Cafe Deco is around the corner on store street

For the V&A the dining room at the Gore is quiet and the food is nice but it can be a bit empty.

Cioa Bella on Lambs Conduit Street is near the British Museum and good for veggies!

The cafe at the V&A is absolutely stunning and worth a visit in its own right!

I love the cafe at the V&A but you can't book (at least I don't think you can) and sadly Mum can't hang around standing whilst we wait for a table.
