I think they'd probably love it, it is very expensive though and I think I wouldn't get it for my 8 yo for that reason. I have the Instax printer and use it to print photos from my phone occasionally. DH got it for me because we were loaned Instax minis (we were part of a research project during the early days of parenting and were required to take photos) and we really loved the photos. I can see an 8 year old churning through a lot of photo refills but if you can encourage them to exercise some restraint it should be ok!

Cool gift. Could you go with a cheaper alternative? https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/groove-kidz-digital-instant-print-camera-1

Yes it is great but pricey and yes the refills are pricey. Also the Instax mini doesn't take the most amazing photos so we like the solution of having the Instax printer and printing photos we like off my phone. How many refills are in the bundle?

Etatauri · 17/12/2025 15:07

If money is an object....a Friend of mine has one of these and she wishes she'd bought one where the photo refills are cheaper. There's one which creates retro snaps on sort of receipt style paper. Kids can get really snap happy and at £1 a pop or whatever it is it adds up.

My seven year old has this and it’s great. The refills work out at £1 per roll and you can take loads of photos per roll.

Fab suggestions

Thanks all
