Has anyone else got this bloody awful cold?

I'm now on day 10 of feeling shit. The first 4 days I was mostly in bed, then felt a bit better for a day, then relapsed. In bed again for a day then thought I was on the mend. But all the symptoms came back the next day!

It's not flu because I haven't got a temperature and the sneezing has been off the scale. I've got a terrible cough. It started with a constant headache but that's gone now.

If you have got it I recommend Night Nurse.

Yes. DH and I both have it. DH has felt ill for nearly 10 days, me only 5. My coughing just started yesterday. 2 days of hardly moving. Not sleeping well. Runny nose. Headache. Very little appetite. No energy.

Deep joy!

Hope you feel better soon, Op.

Sorry to say but I’m 6 weeks in and still feeling bloody awful, It’s a real lingerer.

Hope you feel better soon.

I've just got over the coughing stage. Still feel pretty croaky and tired.

DH is in the middle of the coughing stage.

Yup, I’m a sore throated, sneezing, snotty mess.

ViciousCurrentBun · 17/12/2025 12:08

DH had it and spent 3 days in bed, it’s about 11 days now and he is still a little tired. My friend had it and still feels rough 2 weeks after. No temp for either of them.

No cough, intermittent sneezing fits but aches all over and completely exhausted. No fever but can’t get warm and limited appetite. I think I’m on the mend, overexert myself by doing something like popping to the supermarket and I’m then back in bed feeling like death. Day 10 now.

I have it! I had the flu jab last Wednesday and then on Monday started with a cough, Tuesday morning could barely move. My whole body aches and I have an awful headache and sore throat. I’ve now been in bed for 2 days, barely moved and my nose has started running constantly. It’s awful, I very rarely get ill and can’t remember the last time I had to stay in bed poorly - probably around 15 years ago from what I can remember! I’m 50 and normally in really good health. This has blindsided me. I’m just hoping my husband or kids don’t catch it!!

For the record it can still be the influenza virus even if you haven't got a fever. People can get it mildly, or even with hardly any symptoms.

Imalittleelf · 18/12/2025 07:22

Yup, wiped out for a week, horrid sore throat made worse by coughing, 2nd week felt a bit better but still coughing and short of breath. Now on week 3, still tired but able to resume normal duties.

Its horrible, and too many people I know have it, and yesterday my youngest started with a deep cough in the night :( thankfully they can rest before christmas and hopefully get over the worst of it!

If it's not flu, then COVID is rising again in England after the last peak in October. New variant BA3.2 is gaining ground and spreading worldwide.

Rest A LOT.

Negative tests don't mean it's not COVID, viral load takes a few days to peak so you should test every few days (however flu viral load peaks early so flu rapid tests work from day1-2 of symptoms).

Be aware of that COVID infection increases your risk of heart attack and stroke for at least 6 months after infection. Also you may develop new auto-immune conditions, or flare ups of previous conditions, so be aware of your health.

Yes I’m day 10 too. Still got blocked sinuses and blocked ears, feel rotten if I do too much, have to have a sit down!

Day 10 and still sneezing and coughing myself awake every night. Energy levels still nowhere near normal.

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 18/12/2025 10:01

I thought it was Covid originally as I totally lost my taste/smell very briefly at the start. I had Covid for 6 long weeks in 2023, it was horrendous!

The sneezing from what I've read makes it more likely to be a bad cold. I was sneezing constantly last week!

Night Nurse really helped me with this. I was coughing for 3 hours in the night before I started taking it.
