PCN for 2 mins , £60 - advice ?

DH has had a PCN posted - he parked in a petrol station next to some parcel delivery lockers to pop to a cash point next door ( about 10 steps ) . He was there for 2 mins and 10 seconds at 730pm. Not blocking anyone getting petrol , in a bay. We have always used these bays when popping to that cashpoint ( petrol station doesn’t have a cash point ) , there is no parking on the road for this cashpoint. Never been an issue , but now looking on our neighbourhood groups it seem it’s quite recent and a few people have been caught out by it . The signs are apparently very small and recent. Someone claims they were there for 1 minute, engine wasn’t even off as they were collecting a parcel from the lockers there and they had a PCN , spoke to the owners who said there was nothing they could do about it.

Just wondering if there is anything you can do about this? It is private land . I have read that there should be a grace period ?

Apparently it has been put in place because someone parked there and when reversing they caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a pump so I do get why but surely the sign should be obvious? I get petrol from there regularly and have never noticed signs .

Any advice ?

Go back and take pictures of the signs. It all hinges on whether he reasonably formed a contract with the parking operator. But there are rules about what the signage should look like for a contract to be formed.

in the meantime do not confirm who was driving or what the purpose of the visit was.

Was he also a customer at the petrol station or shop - or just parked to go to the ATM?
