Do kids still sit on Santas knee?

My youngest is 15 now so been a long while.
I'd imagine they don't generally, for obvious reasons but I do find it kind of sad.

I ask because I've just seen a video of some kids at a grotto and they were sat on benches opposite Santa. It looked like they were distancing for covid or something :/

Maybe sitting on the knee is from times passed but do they not even sot next to santa now?

Ive visited santa a lot with my kids and theyve never sat on the knee, no benches either theyve just stood next to him

I was talking to a colleague about this last week as a fb memory came up of my DD sat in Santas knee. They have younger kids and apparently it’s not allowed now.
Just as well as getting that close to a huge beard always freaked my DD out a bit so we didn’t take her often. She only really saw him at the school fair where I knew he was a DBS checked teacher.
Was never a fan of queuing up to see strangers do Santa and thankfully neither of my DC’s were that bothered.

No, it's always on a little chair next to him or opposite in a sleigh

I suppose next to him is quite natural, this montage looked odd as they were just so far away from him!

Mixture of a chair near him or stood and I’m happy with that arrangement. My kids absolutely will not talk to him though (except my 11yo) so there’s no way I could get them to sit on his lap even if I wanted them to.
