Decluttering house for house move in New Year… today I have uncovered our Lego Collection from circa 1998-2000.
I have found two brand new boxes ( one totally sealed- the other has a broken box seal but inside still has its bricks in four sealed packages . Also there is a third opened box.
Does anyone know roughly if these have any value? I couldn’t find them on eBay. Can you point me in the right direction please?

There is a company called jam jar toys, might be worth contacting them and asking?? I think with eBay and Facebook marketplace you set your own price

Thank you, I had my fingers badly burned with a Jellycat pig that I put on eBay for £20. Within 90 seconds I had three offers, then it was bought. The bloke who bought it had it up for over £100 two weeks later…

Have a look on the sites Brickset, Bricklink or Brick Owl.
They will give you a price guide.
Unfortunately they might be old but they aren't anything that exciting so might not be worth much.

@Mum5net this is what Brickset says they might be worth.
£16 for the unopened.

@Mum5net thats really annoying.

Mum5net · 15/12/2025 18:28

Ah, thank you, yes I agree it’s not v exciting… @Needmorelegoand@shellyleppard I will limit my expectations. The Jellycat was obviously more rare

I wouldn’t expect much for it, the vintage sets and rare pieces go for a lot but you just have standard bricks that are still available now. Not really for collectors.

May I ask a different question Lego people?

As well as a rather large collection of DSs models that need to be remade (not totally broken and muddled together but a bit mixed up) I have several big boxes of old technic bits, completely mixed, along with lots of instructions. Someone elses large stash.

Am I insane to want to reconstruct as many as possible?

I might need to do a big sorting project to make it look more manageable, make a start with the easiest model then ask the local enthusiasts I know to come and help. Regularly. For a very long time.

I've wanted to do this for years. I think I need to get on with it or pass on the stash.

@PaperBlueCornflower Sounds like something to do over Christmas if you have some free time...
I'm playing with Duplo on Xmas Day - much better than being on our phones... and there's a distinct lack of parcels here.
Our three boxes are going on eBay imminently as a Buy it Now for £40, open to offers. Thank you all! Couldn't bear another Jellycat moment!

Have a fun Duplo Christmas and good luck with the vintage lego sale.

Thank you for the encouragement to start the big lego project. The mixed stash might be in the region of 75,000 pieces at a rough guesstimate so could easily last until next Christmas! 🧑‍🎄

Needmorelego · 15/12/2025 19:37

@PaperBlueCornflower you might need to pay someone to sort and build the technic.
I love Lego but I just don't get on with Technic. It's fiddly and a pain in the bum 😂
Google your local "AFOL" (Adult Fan of Lego) group and you might find some willing builders.

That's an interesting suggestion. Thank you.

I think I like technic lego but I haven't tested that thought very far...
