GP refused to give me a sick note

I was off work last week, felt tired, dizzy, weak and breathless and my body was aching.
Went to GP last week to check bloods I have thyroid disease so wanted to check my thyroid. They ran lots of blood tests and all came back ok.
I am due back in work today so requested a sick note as I am still not feeling well. Still feeling breathless and dizzy. I work in retail so lots of standing and moving around.
I explained all this to GP and she said that as my bloods are fine I'm ok to be back at work and refused a fit note.
I know I am not ok, I am very rarely off work and don't have regular sick notes my last one was over 2 years ago.
Can anyone give any advice on what I can do?

You don’t need a fit note for last week, you can self certify for the first 7 days of absence.
However if you want to remain off you’ll need a fit note. You could go back to a different GP and failing that the only way to be paid is to book annual leave. Not ideal but try to get in and see a GP today to avoid this.
