Urghhhh

ForPearlViper · 14/12/2025 22:03

I had the chilly pants ad for a few days and then thankfully it disappeared. I'm not offended by the pants but the price for a bit of no doubt chafing polyester...

Someone else complained on Site Stuff previously and I posted there too. No doubt someone will come along and say it is based on your browsing history. All I can say I am baffled about the algorithm that came up with that based on my history.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 14/12/2025 22:05

I’m not offended. I just don’t want crotchless pants with a cup of tea and a browse.

Ive never clicked on anything related to them!

If you didn't google them I think you've just discovered what your Xmas present will be.

Theunamedcat · 14/12/2025 22:11

People always say its based on your browsing history but I honestly dont think that's true I get some adverts pop up for dog food or aquariums for example 🤔 I have three cats i dislike keeping fish and I don't have a dog 😂

Dbank · 14/12/2025 22:13

Are you sharing the computer user account with anyone?

Hohofortherobbers · 14/12/2025 22:17

Yep, someone at your address is googling them

Arlanymor · 14/12/2025 22:19

Maybe they looked at your username and thought: "Perfect Christmas present for the ultimate display"?

ArtichokesBloom · 14/12/2025 22:27

One advert matches a recent (niche) search I've done. Crotchless knicker...no

CrystalSingerFan · 14/12/2025 22:29

I don't get non-thread adverts using Mumsnet on a Firefox browser (with possible added ad-blocker) on my laptop. Or when using YouTube.

Can't believe how awful the barrage of ads on my Android phone are for both websites in comparison.

Good luck.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/12/2025 22:30

Lol. I’ve never had a crotchless pants advert. I’m getting ads for travelodge. Someone using your computer must be looking at them, or something similar.

Exceptionalice · 14/12/2025 22:31

Sorry OP, you must be getting my adverts.

Mine however are for YSL bags that I’ll never be able to afford.

And the ad is back! I think saying 'chilly pants' summoned it. Or maybe chafing?

mellicauli · 14/12/2025 22:35

I keep getting an ad for a Jacob Rees Mogg calendar. I can't wait for 2026. Surely it must stop.

Nope, no-one else uses any of my devices or my wifi and I've certainly never searched for anything of the sort. Yet I was getting them frequently a while ago, then they stopped.

In the window of the CoOp! Go on, live a little, the time is now!!!

(Honestly I hate anything crotchless or those bloody cheese wires - no thanks!)

I think there’s an element of truth to it, targeted ads are a thing but I have seen a lot of people say that people say using vpns and refusing cookies can make some odd adverts appear. I do both of these so I assume it’s that.

I think it would cause the Co op to fail dramatically!

l did click on an Instagram reel where someone snipped the crotch of some pants to make a t shirt. It must have come from there!

I’m getting one for Anthea Turner calendar her posing slightly provocatively 😬

gogomomo2 · 14/12/2025 22:52

The ads can be a bit random, though I got an ad for motorcycle jackets today (which I’m currently researching as need a new set) so was actually pleased and clicked, just didn’t sell my size and were fashion ones or proper waterproof ones
