How expensive is eating / drinking in Las Vegas?

I'm told a vodka and coke is $50?! Is everywhere really that pricey? There'll only be two of us so no need to hire group tables etc.

Vegas has places to suit every budget - $50 for one drink must be somewhere high end!

InfoSecInTheCity · 14/12/2025 17:45

Those prices will be for the prestige bars, places like the Bellagio or Venetian. Looking online $25-30 for a V&C isn’t unusual but is the higher end, and there are lots of other options where there will be specials and happy hours that bring the price right down.

It’s expensive because everyone wants to do the popular well known spots, if I go somewhere I don’t want to have a budget and find the cheap places, I want to experience it all

MyQuirkyFinch · 14/12/2025 17:57

I found it fiendishly expensive. And I live in London so that was a shock!

As expensive as you want. Go to a bar off the Strip and it will cheaper. Drinks at The Wynn or Bellagio and your bill is going up

My husband and daughter go to Vegas every year. They went in August and my husband was shocked at how much everything was.

My husband doesn’t drink and my daughter is 12, so no alcohol involved but everything else was extortionate.

It’s cheaper away from the strip but then it will cost you in taxis.

@HansHolbein - what takes your DH and daughter to Vegas, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just being nosey!

My colleague goes every year she goes to what they call the old vegas spots slightly off the beaten track
They know they well but there are guides online and on YouTube ! X

If you sit at the slot machines and play a bit, and have a balance on your machine you can pay the waitresses for drinks in tips. Pay $5 for the first one, they’ll come back and you cat pay $3 ish per drink.

Freemont St is cheaper, and more fun than the strip imo.

Hotchocolateandmarshmellow · 14/12/2025 18:24

If you move off the strip slightly everything’s a bit cheaper. We didn’t pay for all you can eat breakfasts just took breakfast biscuits and brought some fruit / water from the supermarkets. Would get something like a subway for lunch and then spurge for the evening. There’s definitely places that will charge a premium but some places are much more affordable.
