Does anyone else's cat (or dog) manage to sit on the TV remote

And do something to the tv that you have no idea how to change! I'm currently sat here with subtitles on and have no idea how my cat managed to turn it on but also no idea how to turn it off, even when I go into settings and it says the subtitles aren't turned on 🤔

Cat also manages to turn on audio description on regularly!

My cat did this too. It was fixed using the tv remote, not the Sky one. I had forgotten we had a tv remote, so it was lucky that it was in the drawer. Subtitles in Sky are different than tv subtitles as they are different systems.

Sorry if that sounds mad, but it’s like changing a setting in Word and expecting it to apply in the operating system.

This made me laugh as I have 3 dogs and at least once an evening one of them turns the tv over/off.

It's like their paws have a special power or something!

One of ours once turned the TV on in the early morning and I was woken up by yelling and screaming because the programme they'd found was a documentary in a hospital maternity ward.

They also do things to the laptop like change the display size to 10% of normal so it's quite hard to turn back when you can't actually see the display.

@Bjorkdiditof all the programmes they always seem to find the most dramatic 😂

One of our ( clumsy) Spaniels is particularly partial to Rakuten TV whatever that is!! Always seems to be that when he sits on the remote.

Mine does that, or will sit on it like he is incubating an egg and woe betide anyone who tries to remove it.

He also exits me from teams meetings if I have the audacity to not give him a treat on demand because I am in a meeting. He steps on the esc key.

Fallshealing · 14/12/2025 18:09

@Eggliothat's so funny 😁

My dachshund sits in the back of the car in her car seat and opens the window

There is a Rakuten TV on our Samsung. I have no idea how to get to it and we never watch it but when the dog sits on the remote it always comes on so when it happens we say he’s sat on it with his Rakuten Bootom

Mine chooses the exact same channel!

My cat managed to subscribe me to NOW TV. I have a NOW TV box, which is used to watch other channels/streaming services. Came out of the shower one evening to an email notification that I now have a NOW TV subscription. There was nobody else in the house and the cat was sitting on the remote control.
I managed to cancel it and now have a pin, which is needed for any transaction on the app. Hopefully the cat does not crack it.

Middlemarch123 · 14/12/2025 20:32

I left the tv on standby and the remote on the sofa. My bad. Chairman Meow plonked his fat bum on it at 3 a.m., managed to turn the volume up, and we all woke up to Sky News blaring out.

Love these 😆

My cat once managed to walk across my WFH computer keyboard and pressed a combination of keys that locked my keyboard. I had to call IT in the end for help. The guy said in all the years he’s worked on an IT holder’s he’s never had a call ‘my cat has locked my keyboard’. The shame…..

edwinbear · 14/12/2025 22:08

IT ‘helpdesk’….

My dog does this all the time! Also, when one of my ponies was a baby she got hold of the field padlock and somehow managed to change the code 🤣
