Tassimo finesse, the hot chocolates are tiny!?

I got this machine for my hot chocolate mad teens.
We have just standard mugs and they only get half way filled
Also DH opened up a pod afterwards and therebwas so much powder left in it.

Are we doing something wrong?

I find giving the pods a good shake before inserting them helps with the powder residue. And I use 2 for a decent cup!
