Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd2's been up a while and has just joined me to open her Advent calendar & make herself a brew.

She's planned to go Christmas shopping for me, but is so far not getting very far. When she gets in, she has homework to finish and her room to tidy. She's also waiting for their dad to let her know if he's going with her, to help carry 🤔.

Dd1's still in bed after getting in at around 3am from work 💤. When she gets up, I'll see if she fancies doing anything festive (I have no idea what, maybe some baking!).

I plan to have a slow, pottering kind of day. My freezer wants sorting out & I could do with starting to wrap some gifts, and a load of washing is waiting by the machine - always bloody washing to do!

We'll have bangers & mash for tea, with onion gravy I think. After that, tidy the kitchen and showers all round. I'll have my usual Self-Care Sunday scrubby everything shower, then an hour with my book, and an early night ready for the last week of work before Christmas 🎅.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Just!

Been up since around 8.15. Had a lovely chat with my best friend in Sydney. Just before news of the horrific shooting broke.

Had tea and toast. Emptied dishwasher and put some washing on.

Nothing much planned today. Was supposed to be going to a Santa Fun Run but have been having some weird dizzy spells and everything feels like it’s moving so am giving it a miss.

Need to finish writing Christmas cards - all to be hand delivered around the village. And a few more bits of presents to order.

Determined to watch a Christmas movie this afternoon. Roast Beef and all the trimmings for dinner.

Another relaxing one today as now DC3 has a cold but she's desperate to be well for her last week before Christmas. I obviously won't send her in if she gets any worse but hopefully she'll manage to stave it off.

Have done 2 washes, ironed the uniforms, cleaned the cat little trays, put all the shopping away (delivery) and kids homework is almost all done. Just about to tackle lunch - scrambled eggs and avocado on the posh bread we didn't finish yesterday.

This afternoon we're going to do some Christmas crafting, finish homework and we'll start Man versus Baby later.

Something easy from the freezer later - chilli, rice and broccoli.

Have a good Sunday all.

Afternoon Everyone.

Im late today and missed yesterday but been a busy weekend. Had my works Christmas Day/ Night out yesterday which was fun. Woke up today very tired but no sore head. Have been eating for Scotland though all day.

This afternoon DD wants to go to Asda with me for some reason. We will pop by my parents.

DH has declared he will make ham with crusty bread for tea so looking forward to that.

Not much planned for later. Usual sort uniforms, lunches. We have a week and 1.5 days left of term. Kids are hyper at work so will be a crazy week!

lucysmam · 14/12/2025 14:35

@Thislittlekitten that's exceptionally close to Christmas! Closest we've ever done is 21st I think, by which time everyone was climbing the walls & sooo ready to be done. I hope it goes quickly!

Dd2 has not made it to town...dd1 has not made it out of bed yet 🙄. I have wrapped the "everyone else" gifts while being subjected to festive episodes of 9-1-1 🎄. Just about to tidy up, then considering making mince pies with a glass of wine 🍷.

DD is back from university and was at an all night party, had lunch with them, and now will be shopping with DH for running trainers. She wants them to have matching pairs and do a half marathon together. She is on about doing a half iron man herself though I have requested she doesn't invite DH to that as I'ld like him alive.

We had a lovely day out yesterday seeing the baby seals at Horsey and the 1940s cafe there and today have had a Sunday roast. DH is now driving to meet DD. DS is wandering the garden and climbing trees. We will need to clean downstairs tonight as DS brings lots of mud in.

I have made a dozen mini quiche lorraines and 18 smoked salmon and broccoli mini quiches - decided against making the filo parcels because I'm not sure how well they would freeze.

I have decided to ask the hive mind about whether I should add more decoration to the main body of my Christmas stocking... remember I still have to add a red and gold ribbon trim to the join of the cuff and the main stocking. Picture attached... eventually

@DilemmaDelilah I think the ribbon trim will be enough! I'm very impressed. I'd have dithered for ages over beads and sequins 🙈. How many to go? (Although you've given yourself plenty of time...I'd have wanted them done now for this Christmas then been in a huff with myself for not crafting fast enough).

Late to the party again! I was up fairly early after a cuppa in bed with DH, had a shower & washed my hair. Someone came round to buy a dress I’ve had on Marketplace for ages but she tried it on in the bathroom & it didn’t fit. I did a 4 hour shift which wasn’t as busy as Sundays can often be but was complicated as there were lots of queries & problems. Popped to Tescos on the way home to get meal deals for the girls & bought a bottle of Tanqueray 0% “ gin”. Now tucking into leftover Chinese & trying to motivate myself to sort the freezer out so I can see what we can have for tea with chips. Our last freezer broke because I over - filled it & this one is in danger of going the same way. After that, I’ll hoover all through downstairs & sort out the pressies to wrap. I need to get going on Christmas cards too. Dropping DD’s GF to the station later. Tonight we’ll watch Strictly Results & the Dr Who spinoff which I really enjoyed last week.

Mince pies have been shelved until at least after tea. Girl cat has come to sit on my knee (this is VERY rare!)so I cannot possibly move until she does. 'Tis very warm under cat & huge scarf though 🥵! I'll drink my wine & scroll/read while she's here though 😊.

@lucysmam for family, 6. I may make a couple for my lovely massage lady and her little girl. I might also make several for us to hang on our mantelpiece. I've already made, and given, the decorations for this year, so they will have to be for next year.

I would make them for my sisters as well but when I shared a picture of this year's decorations one of them said - in no uncertain terms - that she preferred traditional decorations.

I try to use scraps of trim I already have, am given, or get from the scrap store so every one will be different, although they will all be of the same theme. If anyone has ribbon, sequins, beads etc going spare and you are in the Devon area I'm very willing to take them off your hands!

Today we went to the local church for a bit of festive fayre type stuff. Decorated biscuits and met Santa etc, daughter loved it. Then home to watch Elf and The Nativity 2. Husband is away at a competition today so it’s just a basic pizza tea which the kids will help me with. Just a nice relaxing day!

Mimilamore · 14/12/2025 17:05

Broken washing machines being taken by scrappers who were very efficient and helped turn off the water which my old boy husband couldn’t do… going for a quick 40 min, there and back, along the beach and hemming a piece of curtain to hide all the cleaning materials that went under the sink but are now exposed as husband mullered the cupboard yesterday trying to straighten it up… I’m the queen of making the best of a bad job!!!
