And not a peep. I would have expected something at least - perhaps some greatest hits on the TV, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the later episodes of Diagnosis Murder once Jack was replaced by Jesse. But I haven’t heard anything.

Anyway - here’s to you, Dick. 100 up today. What a man. I hope you’re enjoying your day in California, surrounding by your impossibly blond, square jawed descendants.🥂

The BBC mentioned it today when they showed Night at the Museum. And last night I happened to see a music channel whose name I can’t remember had something about his greatest hits on. It was very late last night though, 1amish

This wasn’t quite what I expected when I clicked on the thread 🤣

But Dick Van Dyke’s birthday was definitely mentioned on radio 2 at lunchtime and they played the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme tune. Radio in my car and I was on a very short journey and this was the only thing I heard.

Horrorscope · 13/12/2025 23:01

They were talking about him on the radio today (and he featured in our office quiz, this week).

AppleSnow · 13/12/2025 23:02

It was mentioned on the Radio 4 news bulletins and they played Chim Chimney at the end of the Today programme this morning.

Gosh I didn't realise! Thanks for the heads up OP.
