A loss : I enjoyed her writing.

I felt that ‘ Aga saga’ trope was a bit of a put down of a decent talented writer.
Im not remotely middle class, but I understood the characters and their troubles. It was just the same as everyone else , but with more money!

I loved her books and gave re-read some of them many times. She wrote people very well and there was a safety and cosiness about even quite dark situations. I think she was quite under-rated and to write her books off as just ‘aga sagas’ is to do them a disservice. I might dig one out to read now actually!

What was the book where the husband had a fling with, I think, his step-mother??

A Passionate Man.

I read Friday Nights when I was on maternity leave after my eldest was born and I remember wishing I had an Eleanor in my life! I might’ve felt less lonely as a first time mum.
