I was at work yesterday, and I had an incident occur that had me curious. How do others act in this situation?
We have this one narrow walkway in the store that I work at, And when I was walking through, a little ways in front of me was a blind person. They were walkin, feeling around in front of them. They weren’t walking very fast I assume because they were trying to feel around, in reality though I could tell from across the aisle that the entire pathway was clear.
Because they were walking slower I found myself lingering behind them, and the aisle is narrow so I cannot exactly go around. After the fact I got to thinking... I also did notice that a little while later they were at the checkout feeling for the counter.
I’m curious if you were in my position walking down the aisle would you have been patient and let them feel their way down the aisle even though it took quite a bit longer? Would you have stood there in line watching them feel all around the counter trying to find where an item is? I understand you can ask if they need help, but they are also trying to be independent.
