New phone help, dropped A71 in the bath

Just that really , I just dropped my beloved Samsung A71 in the bath, so new phone needed. Gutted as had this one the best part of 5 years and was vaguely thinking of upgrading, but no real effort or thought put in.
Samsung stopped the A7 series so not sure what to do with out spending mega bucks. I really need help about where to look. Thanks

See if CEX has one? They have a decent warranty.

*Worth checking how much longer it's going to be supported for though.

I would have thought you could get another of those phones for not very much off eBay, Back Market etc.

Or look at something slightly newer?

AlicePottery · 11/12/2025 10:38

I'm still using my A70 (works perfectly) mainly because I can't find a replacement I like since they stopped the A7 range so I feel your pain and shall be following this thread with interest.

Is your phone definitely dead? Modern phones stand up well to water damage.

Samsung a35 is great. I had to give up my beloved Huawei after 5 yrs because nothing got updated etc.

As it happens I've just bought a new phone and which is a Samsung A54, which was £160 from Back Market in perfect condition. What I couldn't work out was what all the different model numbers meant. My old one was a M32 and I see that the OP had an A71 and there seems to be a bit of love for 'the A7 range' on this thread, but tbh, they all seem much of a muchness to me Confused

Looks like it. Trying to dry it out, but screen not working and can’t turn it off…

Up for looking at something newer, but don’t know where to start as Samsung have stopped the A7 series. Hoping for some inspiration/ wise words 😀

Can you try putting it in a bag of rice? I've heard that's supposed to help dry them out.

Samsung S25 Ultra user here - I am a huge Samsung fan too. My DD had an A series phone and my parents do too. It's definitely worth looking at all the A series range, but some of the budget ones tend to be a lot smaller with screens under 6 inches. I think having a bigger screen makes reading easier especially when getting older with varifocals 😳😅😵‍💫

Ok, so phone is still dead, I’ve wrecked the touch screen, but continue to let it dry out in hope. In the meantime I have replaced it with an S25FE, not a top range Samsung s phone, put physically similar to my A7 but an upgrade inside ( apparently). Thanks all

S25 FE is pretty good, being an S series phone, it'll be more powerful than an A series one. Good choice! 👍😎

I dropped my phone into the loo years ago. A flushed loo thank god! I put it in a sealed bag of rice. Like a sandwich bag. Put it in the hot press and a couple of days later it was fine. Lasted me another year until I was due an upgrade. Worth a shot.

StudentDays · 16/12/2025 18:49

You'll be fine with that. I'm still plugging along with my Samsung S21 and it's all good. Although it randomly closes mumsnet browser now and then, which probably isn't a bad thing 🤣
