What is the most used social media now? Does anyone on here still use FB?

Seems like Facebook has died off in the last few years, as hardly anyone in my social circle uses it.

So what social media do you all use these days? And what social media is the most popular?

I use facebook for the neighbour groups. It's like the old bulletin boards if you are old enough to remember them.

I think the most popular are TikTok and Instagram. However, it's not what social media of facebook 10 years ago. It's filled with content creators and not real people posting. There's also twitter and threads. Whatsapp is very popular and there are channels stuff too but I don't know how popular they are as I only use it for messaging people I know.

Facebook is still an important space for a lot of my hobbies. I don’t use it for the social side as much as I did but for a lot of people it’s not that it’s been replaced so much as become unusable.

Every update to facebook seems to be designed to make it less and less usable.

I rarely see old style life updates on there now, often because of people growing out of it for various reasons, but also because the algorithms often hide things for days.

It is mainly group content that keeps it usable.

I never really got into instagram.

I like Facebook for the community page, a couple of support groups and seeing family pics.
i also like Instagram for following comedians and similar
i think Snapchat and tik tok are most used by the young

Like pp I don't get on with Insta and Tik Tok. Too many wannabes and content is just long enough for the attention span of a newt.

My secret indulgence is Facebook videos of American cop body cams. Honestly the things they have to deal with, it passes an hour while tucked up in bed. I also use FB for local updates, and some groups that I am a member of. I am learning French through one of the native French teachers, and so the algorithm has sent me to vidoes of the French SAMU which is their emergency services, all in French obviously! and another hour passes!

I don't use FB for messaging or friends or anything like that. Prefer anonymity such as it is! If people want to contact me, use Whatsapp/Text/Call me....

I still have a daily scroll through facebook, wish people a happy birthday look at any crime traffic issues locally but don't spend long on it. Tiktok is where my time is spent i can spend hours on that

I never got into Facebook. It bored me to tears 😂
As a middle aged woman, i'm surprised how much I like TikTok!
I watch YouTube a bit, but usually just the shorts.
Zero interest in Instagram, although I still have an account I never use.

Young people don’t use Facebook. Tic Toc & insta, snapchat etc would be more popular.

I use Instagram mostly. Facebook is just full of ads and news stories and hardly and actual status updates from my friends. I do look at it most days but barely post.

I still post on Facebook and like the fact that all my history, everywhere I've ever been for the last 20 years is recorded there.

I use Facebook to stay in touch with family overseas, and I belong to a couple of cat groups. It’s certainly not dead for me.

I still look at Facebook, but lucky if one post in twenty is actually from someone I know, rather it’s full of adverts, ai rubbish and things about tv programmes etc. Don’t personally use any other social media other than WhatsApp

Nothing. Unless MN counts? I do watch a couple of people on You Tube when they post things (tutorial videos), but otherwise I don’t have any sm accounts, or any apps. I have some friends living abroad so if they want to show me photos or something, they normally send them to my DH and ask him to show me.

Plenty of family groups on Facebook. It seems to be the network that links generations.

Can you tell us how to find the cop body cams? Sounds compelling.

Type in something like "American cop cams/body cams" in the search bar on FB home page. A lot of cams from different States come up. What I like is the clips last longer than a sneeze (like you get on Tik Tok!). It's a bit of an indulgence. But hey, it's legal 😊

Yes, this is the thing with my hobby groups on FB, there are people from late teens to 90s on there.
The young people might not use it other than for hobby stuff but they aren’t intimidated by the idea of adding another social media platform as some people who didn’t grow up with the internet are.

I use instagram like other people used to use Facebook - I post pics for family and friends to look at (or not). I don’t court random followers and only follow other users in quite a niche area. IMO, the Instagram algorithm is easy to control.

I actually quite like FB but that’s because I’ve never used social media to follow friends and family. I use it for information only. FB has useful groups about (eg) specific travel destinations, things on in my local area, a particular type of cooking, car recommendations etc. Bit like MN but more specific.

I like text and discussions rather than reels so prefer FB groups to Insta or Tiktok
