What happened to 9ct Gold?

Looking to buy jewellery something not too expensive just a gold ring with cubic zirconica or a simple bracelet .
When I was a teen I'd go to Argos save up my pocket money etc and buy a ring etc so now I've gone to do the same thing but most places now offer 18kt gold / gold plated stuff in the similar price bracket that I used to buy 9ct for .
Granted that was 20 years so I guess times have changed .
Often I see the description will say guaranteed for 2 years or 10 years etc.
I don't want that I wash my hands alot surely they won't last ? Also sometimes the piece is kinda pricey for what it is or very tiny .
But what I want to know is why did it disappear ? And has anyone found places that offer what I'm looking for ?

I also checked on other national chains such as H Samuel and they do too.

I've been searching for real diamond 9ct gold earrings for a good price and keep coming g across gold plated. I've found H Samuel ok

Don't buy gold-plated stuff, the plate wears off.

The price of gold is very high at the moment by the way.

There's been something of a gold rush recently as people are squirrelling their money away into stable assets, which in this economy is a very wise move. There are still 9ct gold rings to buy.
