Since when did it become a crime to use the word suicide? I see people referring to 'unalive' instead.

It’s a TikTok thing - certain words get blocked, and the idea spread to other social media.

Yeah it's just to get around filters on social media designed to block harmful or distressing content and the word has just migrated into other settings now.

But it's still fine to say 'suicide' but commit suicide would be less socially correct as commit is generally associated with committing crime and some people (who have struggled or who have lost loved ones to suicide) do find that more insensitive.

Unalive to me is actually more chilling than dead or suicide. Because it is much more evocative of what death actually is.

I don't like euphemisms. I don't understand people using " passed over" or " passed" - unless they really believe in an after life and a spirit world.
