I'm only sending to family people and maybe a few friends all in the UK.

Who has got their cards to UK fam and friends in the post yet, or when are you going to do that? Do you get yourself a nice glass of vino before you launch into it?

Merci

I posted mine on Friday, all second class, only do 8. A birthday card I posted last month took over 10 days to reach the person, so I am hoping these make in in time.

Done about half of mine, got the rest sitting on the kitchen side waiting to go. Have massively cut down my list, seems only the older generation are sending cards anymore, has anyone else found that? Mine go out to my aunts and uncles etc but very few go to people my age (mid-30s), only those that bother to send to us. It's a shame, a few years ago we had loads up all around the house, last year we got only a handful. It does feel like a bit of a waste of time and money and resources, so maybe that's why people don't bother any more, but I do enjoy them.

I haven’t even bought any. They’ll be posted as late as possible.

I didnt do any last year, have done a few this year, all on Saturday afternoon as the weather was awful and I’d already been outside. Only posting 10 of them, did that Sunday, second class, I think they should get there ok.

RaraRachael · 08/12/2025 11:08

I sent mine out on Saturday. I used to send about 50 but that's down to 30 this year because of people not bothering last year.

Oh dear … I love shopping for / ordering cards. Spread them all out on the desk in November, put a reminder in my phone about stamps, make a (diminishing) list of recipients, put everything away, sit back feeling smug …

They’re all still in a cupboard now, I don’t have any stamps, and I’m a bit bored with the whole idea. So it’ll be the inevitable mad dash the weekend before Christmas, probably.

I did mine about the 2nd December. I usually try to beat a friend who seems to do hers in November, I managed it this year! Like PP, far fewer than previously as a lot of the people I used to send to are either stopping doing cards or have died since. I've only sent around a dozen this year, all second class except the ones going abroad.

I've got a list in the back of my address book that I amend each year, on a sticky note. Anyone who didn't send me one or stated previously that they won't be doing any further, I can see to leave off. I have a number of neighbours and fellow volunteers that I'll give some to, but not many.

It's a shame it's dying out, cards can be so pretty and a nice part of the decorations. I have a ribbon along the wall in the hall that I put them on, and include some from people who are no longer with us - it's nice to remember absent friends with their cards still being a part of Christmas.

I agree it's nice to get cards. It means a lot to some people, especially older generation and small children.

Stamps are so bloody expensive though! And 2nd class post takes 10 days at the best of times!

Snakehips47 · 08/12/2025 13:34

I have just posted my cards this morning after hearing on the radio 2nd class will take two weeks to be delivered in UK.
