To mums of teen mountain bikers

DS, 14, is getting into mountain biking and has asked for mtb tops for Christmas, t-shirt style, short and long sleeves.
He doesn't know what brands. He wants to look cool and wear fashionable brands.
I took him to a mtb trail place and must admit boys his age were looking trendy in their gear, but I couldn't stare at their clothes to try and see any logos, they were cycling past way too fast for me to be able to detect logos and anyway I would've looked like a weirdo middle aged woman staring at teenage boys.
I have literally zero clue about teen brands for mtb clothing.
Can anyone guide me here? I'd be really grateful. I feel so out of touch - this is an area I know nothing about!
Thank you!

Mines 12 and just got in to mountain biking he likes the Fox brand.

Go on a website like Leisure Lakes. They do all the branded stuff. Fox, Oakley are two.

You can find stuff on vinted. Ive bought a few gmbn tops (global mountain bike network). Other brands - helfare (£££ but matt jones' brand), fox, winch and plummet, troy Lee designs, leatt, dmr

Although I'm not at all cool so do bear that in mind!!

Decathlon usually have decent stuff and it's a lot cheaper than Fox etc if he doesn't like it!

Mine is 14 and huge into MTB. Fox is his preferred brand but also likes 100%

Have a look on eBay. Might be some as new items on there. Try MTB clothing as a search

CosyFanTucci · 07/12/2025 13:48

Agree with some of the brands mentioned: Fox, 100%, Oakley and Troy Lee, usually available online at websites like Winstanley's, Leisure Lakes etc.

How many times has he mountain biked? Is this very recent thing

I wouldn’t spend a fortune as he’s still growing and may find he doesn’t actually like it all that much. I would go for second hand, branded stuff off Vinted.
