What do I do with 12 avocados?

Ordered 12 ripen-at-home avocados by mistake. We use 1 per day at most. Do I put some in the fridge now, while they are totally unripe, or wait until they've ripened up a bit? Or?

Guacamole?

I eat a ton of avocado's, so id have them wirh eggs for breakfast and tuna for lunch!

Bake a cake that uses avocados as the fat in the recipe.

Isn’t the correct response here ‘juggle them’? 🤣🤣🤣

If you let them ripen you can make a massive batch of guacamole and freeze it in small portions.

Caspianberg · 07/12/2025 09:34

Just eat them?

if they are ripen at home they won’t all be ripe at once so you can gradually eat them.

pandora206 · 07/12/2025 09:37

Put them in the fridge and take them out one at a time to ripen. They'll last for ages that way.

I've never had one last 12 days out of the fridge. But if I put them in the fridge totally unripe, they never seem to ripen at all after they come out. I guess I have enough to do a properly-controlled scientific experiment.

Ripen them. Make an enormous bowl of guacamole. Eat with crisps for tea.

JamesClyman · 07/12/2025 11:12

Chuck them in the bin. Avocados are vile,

Caspianberg · 07/12/2025 12:41

@AudiobookListener - well 12 days might be pushing it, but if you usually eat 1 a day anyway, im sure you can between you all 2-3 some days just this week making guacamole or having eggs Benedict type dinner with some.

How many people live in house?

Only 2 and we are not big eaters! I think I'll take some round to the neighbours.

You can freeze them

HurdyGurdy19 · 07/12/2025 14:04

Smear them on your lower portions, of course 😂

Matildahoney · 07/12/2025 14:07

Cut them in half and freeze them.

Westfacing · 07/12/2025 14:10

I never buy ripen-at home because they don't ripen - just go from rock hard to off!

Chocolate avocado cake

Attictroll · 07/12/2025 14:35

I’d have this for pudding https://www.gordonramsay.com/gr/recipes/chocolate-and-avocado-mousse/ I love avocado and although 12 is a lot to get through in a week a mix of sandwiches and guacamole . I’d also maybe give a few away or add them to kids smoothies

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 07/12/2025 16:16

Make a smoothie every day with them. Kefir. Banana. Your skin will glow.

You can buy frozen avocado, so wait for them to ripen, then peel, slice and freeze for later use.
In Colombia, they make a chicken and potato soup called ajiaco con pollo which is served with slices of avocado on top. It's light, delicious and perfect for winter.

I love mashed avocado on toast with a poached egg on top, also bacon and avocado sandwiches

Sgtmajormummy · 07/12/2025 17:00

My tactic with avocados is to leave them out UNTIL they’re ripe and then hibernate them in the fridge for as long as you like. Or peel, slice and freeze them at that point.
