Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. It's silent apart from the washer, for the first of 2 towel loads, although I think dd2 is up. The cats have been fed, after boy cat decided he'd snuggled long enough & got out of bed. One of them is playing with something tinkly but I cba to go find out what it is 🤷‍♀️.

Plan for today is another steady, moochy one. I'm going to spend a bit of time with my lists after posting this, and order the last few things on them for delivery. There are a handful of decorations I want to put up in the kitchen, and a second cake to bake too.

Other than that, I'll be pottering or painting at a leisurely pace.

We're having gammon for tea, cooked in the slow cooker, with roasties and some sort of veg. Definitely not a full on roast today!

After that, showers, and get ready for the coming week...10 get ups til the Christmas holidays...and so much to do! I'll get my scrubby everything shower tomorrow when the electrician has fixed the upstairs lights again 💡.

@MinnieMountain you were sensible! Ours is up & the furry chaos creators keep pinching decs...girl cat is particularly fond of the ever so festive flamingo dd1 bought for dd2 a couple of years ago 🤣.

I'm almost fully shopped. Cannot find a nice gold beanie hat, or vegan marshmallow hot choc toppers 🙄. If anyone fancies having a hunt I'd appreciate it!

I’m having a chilled day today then out to see some Christmas lights with a friend later, will prob have some mulled wine then remember I don’t really like it.

We’re also away over Xmas so no tree buying here either. I’m waiting to see if anyone wants some decs up but so far no one has said anything so not sure I’ll bother as it will be me putting them out and taking them down again.

Morning all! My first time on these threads. I will be having a quiet ish day today as getting over a nasty cold and putting up the tree etc yesterday wiped me!

I plan to get the sewing machine out and try to crack on with making some Xmas place mats. I missed my sewing class last week due to said cold so am behind and want them done for Xmas day. DD1 who lives in the US, is home for Xmas for the first time in 3 years, so everything has to be perfect. 😊

DH is the chef as he’s retired so he’ll be cooking something nice for tea I expect.

But I will get up soon, light a candle, make a coffee, clean, radio 4 and bake some chocolate goodies.
The weather is poor here so a day indoors

Last day of weeks leave. Been busy doing that pre Xmas deep clean.

all 8 cards written to immediate family only.

Today I am currently still in bed with a cup of tea the youngest made . Husband and daughter at work until late.

I want to clean the dirty kitchen and g pig out and vacuum the stairs. (Started yesterday but the battery died🙄)

got back very late ffrom a wake party last night, and I have a horrible feeling I was flashed by a speed camera on the way home. I have a feeling it was about 32mph …. Very annoyed with myself.

8 more work days until Christmas. I’m so ready for a break

Im painting to day.
Ive already fucked up a large patch on the wall so need to sort that out.
I may have to use paper stick it to the wall and paint over it, yes a bodge job.
I'll go with that.

Quiet start to the day. DH took dog out though him and the cats woke me at 6 for breakfast and to go in the garden.

DD and I are going out to see a show. Once back I need to wrap some more gifts. Iron uniforms and clothes. Need to clear out dinning room where excess Christmas stuff has been dumped.

DH will organise tea tonight. Not much else planned but to read my book.

@Thislittlekitten thank you, dd1 has an M&S foodhall near her accommodation, I think...maybe near her campus 🤔. One or the other! I'll send her on a hunt for some (annoyingly, I bypassed the M&S outlet shop on Friday evening thinking they'd not have much I'd want) <sigh>.

I’m having my first quiet day since November 1st - bliss! November was a whirl of house moving, diy, and trades people.

my plan was a morning of cleaning and an afternoon of telly. Instead I woke up late, have done some jigsaw, ate a large early curry lunch, and now might have a nap 😂. What I really need to do is paint the skirting boards and work out why the wall I touched up yesterday seems to be a different colour than the old paint…

I have yet to buy a single Christmas present but am burying my head firmly on the sand about that.

I have 9 people for lunch so been very busy with that so far. Roast beef and all the trimmings. Foolishly have scheduled this to coincide with the F1 so will have to catch up with that later. No doubt after the cooking and washing up I will be ready to flop somewhere.

Enjoying the peace and quiet after having a house full of the DC’s friends both Friday and Saturday night!
Been for a swim in the sea and now playing a bit of piano. Going for a run shortly while DH cooks Sunday lunch. Tonight we’re going to the theatre so I’ll have a nice bath this afternoon and read my new book on the sofa for an hour or two. Bliss!

Ended up having a pretty successful meal out with my friend yesterday. Apart from a short moan about a bad back, and a long monologue about some random tennis player from the 70s I'd genuinely never heard of, it went better than I expected.
As we were stood by our cars, getting ready to leave, she did mention doing something in the new year... I quickly replied, "Yes, when it's warmer!" I'm thinking more end of March than early February!

It's been a lazy morning here. Got up later than usual and have just pottered doing nothing!
I've got some crumpets to have for lunch, then plan to wrap my final two Christmas presents and put the wrapping stuff away. It's been sitting out on my lounge carpet for almost a month!
I've got tutoring stuff to print, then plan to hoover and mop.

Dinner tonight is going to be some cheesy pigs in blankets from Asda. We had them last weekend as well, and they're absolutely delicious! I'll do them with veg and potatoes and make a fake roast dinner out of them.

Perhaps I'll get the tutoring stuff printed first, while I've still got this computer on. :)

@lucysmamI saw some gold beanie hats in Zara recently - I say recently it was probably actually a couple of months ago I was there 😁 Might be worth a look if you have one near you

This morning I took one of our dogs out then did some work on an essay I have to write while my husband was out (I voice-type due to my disability so find it easier when the house is empty). This afternoon I will be walking both our collies (looks like it will be a wet walk) before a solo outing up to church where I will be leading one of our carol services.

Afternoon ladies. I have had a relatively lazy day so far. I had a smoked salmon and cheese bagel in bed this morning. Eldest DS did some studying and the younger 2 chilled on their ipads. I did a quick clean before getting me and the kids dressed and then some lunch (pasta and garlic bread). We are currently chilling on the sofa watching the grinch but will head to the leisure centre soon to let the boys burn off some energy. I have a roast beef in the slow cooker and a nice cheesecake for after, then all into pjs for an early night. Happy Sunday everyone!

Made it finally.
Today I dropped DD off for her supermarket shift and DS went to church , then i met DS after church for lunch at Wetherspoons. He had scampi, chips and peas and I had lasagne and salad.
Then I had won concert tickets for Home Alone music so we headed off ot the Glasshouse. They showed the film as well; it's years since I saw Home Alone and I had forgotten lots of it.
Picked up DD from work at 5, while DH made dinner for everyone and I am just about to clear up now that we've eaten.
DD and DH have parked themselves in front of a specially edited Dr Who Sea Devils and DS emptied the dishwasher then disappeared upstairs!
