These people who find bodies (it’s always a dog walker and it’s never a mannequin) why do they go and open up the random suitcase they walked past? Or the copious amount of bin bags ? I get it if the dog has gone over and disturbed it but I was watching a new piece about a body found by a guy who just wanted to know what was in the bin bag. I go on walks all the time and I’ve never felt the need to look in a bin bag.

i do dog walking for a living but have never come across suitcases bin bags or similar but if I did no way would I poke it about. I think I would ring the police and leave them to it.
i hear loads of people who find dogs cats etc abandoned but never found them either wish I had!

TryMee · 07/12/2025 17:29

I’d never go poking about in a bin bag!

Fly tipping is rampant around here. There are always bin bags dumped.

When ever i'm doing a long motorway drive i always, at some point, find myself wondering how many bodies in bags i've driven past.
Maudlin i know!

But so much of our bushy road sides are no man's lands where people hardly ever set foot.

When me and DM are in the car and are driving a along a country road, we try and identify places that look good to dump a body 😆

We both have dogs, and no bodies have shown up yet (it is always dog walkers). We have a pact that if one of us is to find one, we ring the other before we call the police. Obviously take that as light hearted. I know the reality can be traumatic.

I actually spoke to a woman who found a body in a bin bag while dog walking years ago. She said it's not something she'd normally do but she just got this bleak feeling in her gut that she needed to look. So maybe it's that. Some sort of instinct or woo feeling.

Honestly I think it's largely just nosiness and curiosity.

I do a cautious kick when I see luggage/suitcases. You read about litters of kittens being found in things like that.
But if I was kicking bin bags, I may as well try and play for a football team for the amount of kicking I would be doing. So many fly tipped.

What makes a genuine question different from a regular question?

BoarBrush · 07/12/2025 20:46

We found a body on a walk, thankfully (for us, not his family obviously) just a man that had had a heart attack. I wouldn't touch a bin bag or suitcase ever unless it smelt. read and seen too much shite for that.

Oh my word that must have been awful for his family and you!

I suppose in many cases it's gut instinct of something not looking/feeling right.

I don't think I'd be fully rummaging in bin bags but I can imagine giving something a nudge with my foot or poking with a stick if it looked particularly suspicious. If nobody looked then these bodies wouldn't be found.

I have a look if I see something where it shouldn't be. People abandon baby animals that might need help
