Etsy returns: order will not arrive in time.

Hi, does anyone have any experience with Etsy returns?

I ordered a Christmas jumper for DS on 22nd of November, estimated delivery date was 3rd December. The jumper is not personalised so I didn't expect it would take too long to ship.

I got a message from the seller on 29th November saying "your order should be delivered between 03rd Dec and 06 Dec" cutting it a bit fine but OK.

Nothing arrived yesterday, I have messaged the seller twice over the last week and had no reply, it now shows that the order was only shipped today (actually not even shipped, just shipping label created!) and is expected to arrive between 10-13th December, any time after the 10th it is useless to me, it is needed for 11th.

Where do I stand here? Can I contact the seller today? I had assumed that it was shipped after the message on 29th November and it is coming from Ireland so I don't think I have any hope of it arriving in time!

Lesson learned I will never order from Etsy again, this whole process has been stressful and the jumper was much more expensive than if I just ordered from Amazon.

They don’t guarantee a delivery date unless you pay extra for it usually. You can try messaging the seller but they aren’t obliged to refund you.

Thanks for your help. I asked because the advert on TV says 'delivery guaranteed or your money back'. Which is a bit annoying.

Sorry to ask another question, when I ordered it clearly stated 'shipped from the UK' which is why I chose to get it specifically from this seller, I now have tracking info that says a shipping label has been created in China.

Do I have any rights here?

Can you contact Etsy itself?

A delivery time frame was given, and it only shows that shipping label was created today. worth a try?

May be different if order was sent on time but there were issues with the courier.

Thank you, when I try to contact Etsy it says I can open a case after Dec 4th, and the button is greyed out. It then says to allow the seller 48 hours to respond. Maybe I should try logging in on my desktop as the app seems a bit glitchy.

I have screenshot the sellers profile that says 'shipped from the UK' and my tracking info that says the label has been created in China, so hopefully that will help when getting my money back, but I don't have much hope.

I paid £40 and could have got it for less than half of that if I ordered from China myself, but was iffy on the websites/shipping.

Never-mind, I managed to get through to a human on like chat and have been issued a refund.

what was the dispatch, not delivery date you were given? Etsy has a habit of giving delivery dates before the dispatch date the seller has given.

I'm sorry I don't remember what the dispatch date was, I don't expect it would have taken too long to dispatch, it wasn't anything personalised, just a Christmas jumper with a certain character/theme.

I had no idea this happens on Etsy, I've always had great communication from sellers and understand handmade items take a long time, but sellers have always been very good at communicating so I thought something was off here, looking online this seems to be quiet a big problem on there, Etsy were very good at sorting it all out though to be fair to them.

Maybe a drop seller then. For us, the non personalised items take just as long to make as personalised as its all made to order.

I think you're right, when I say not personalised I mean not handmade either, I've looked online and all of this sellers items are available from many EBay and Amazon sellers (significantly cheaper!) and Aliexpress/Temu style websites, shipping is all from China. I stupidly thought that buying from Etsy would get me better quality and quicker shipping.
