No but my washing machine is a big fat liar.

I always trust my sat nav in king journeys but I am sometimes surprised at its decision making in the home area routes

Google maps are fucking liars!

After it sent me straight through the middle of the Salisbury Plain firing range on a road that was more pothole than road, no. Or when it kept telling me to turn left in the middle of Basingstoke when it meant turn right then left... I must have gone round about four times. Bastard

I wouldn’t trust it as far as I could throw it. My late DH was a slave and called it Doris. We used to argue about who was right, me or Doris. He always believed Doris. We ended up in some strange places, thanks to Doris.

I don’t trust google, once we had a fairly long journey, around three hours, to Kent. Google said about 4.5 hours, Waze said three. Waze was right

I don’t trust my satnav but I trust Google maps.

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 07/12/2025 00:26

I get a pleasure out of disobeying mine sometimes.

Theunamedcat · 07/12/2025 00:28

Yeah it convinced me to turn left off a mountain road once claiming it was a shortcut i should have remembered short cuts lead to long delays i went down the side of a mountain no way of turning around over a small stream still no turn around point along a track seriously couldn't turn back if I tried then up the other side and out the opposite side of the mountain I don't think it was any quicker and I never used that sat nav again I was seriously glad we didn't meet a tractor because I would have been fucked to this day im pretty sure I trespassed on a farmers land

I've used Waze for years, but it's consistently letting me down in terms of adding time on towards the end of my journey to work. It's to the same destination most days but it fails to anticipate traffic in the usual places at least 50% of the time.
I'm also beginning to think that it's being programmed to avoid certain residential roads, as it frequently takes me on main roads when the cut-throughs would be quicker. I don't really feel it's my friend any more.

Nope, not one bit. I trust google maps, but not my car satnav.

I trusted it to get us to a different airport car park than the one I usually use and we came very close to missing our long haul flight, as it took me to the other side of the airport complex. OH and I argued massively and it was super stressful. Never again!!
