Amazon return courier wrongly took my M&S parcel, Amazon ignoring me

Amazon arranged a Royal Mail pick up for an Amazon return, but when the Royal Mail person came, they mistakenly collected a completely separate parcel from M&S that had just been delivered. It was addressed to a different name and not part of any Amazon order. They took the M&S parcel instead of collecting the Amazon return. I have all this on camera.

The parcel contained the beauty advent calendar and it's of higher value of what should have been returned to Amazon.

I reported it to Amazon immediately but I’ve had contradictory information from different agents: one said the parcel would be destroyed, another said they’d look into it. Now they are ignoring my follow up emails and I have had no update at all.

My thinking is that Amazon’s collection agent took a parcel they were not authorised to take. Amazon arranged the pick-up, so Amazon should resolve the loss with Royal Mail.
Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation before? Did Amazon eventually take responsibility? And is there anything else I should be doing at this stage?

I’ve just had this today but with royal mail taking a Next parcel due for collection from Evri and not collecting the item they were supposed to collect. I was told to contact the local royal mail delivery office which I did today. They have said they’ll return my parcel to me on Monday even though it didn’t have my name on so we’ll wait and see. The postman scanned the parcel and it sure how as was an Evri code not royal mail. I have this all on camera too. Good luck

Thanks for replying @Watchoka. I am surprised that Amazon are being so unhelpful. Am I just supposed to accept this?

I'd contact Royal Mail as they have your M&S parcel in their possession.
They'll have some form of record / tracking and should be able to return it to you.

Yes you will have to accept it sadly. I have just been through an Amazon driver stealing a next package from my door step. We witnessed her do it (both myself and my son) but because we don’t have any recording device such as a ring door bell they told me they won’t do anything and to claim back from Next. It was £500 worth of clothing and next did eventually re-send the items.

I asked them for details of their driver so I could report her to the police. They’ve declined that. It’s taken weeks and weeks to get to this point. I have found their response to be disgusting and they have effectively called myself and my son liars because we can’t provide video evidence of the theft.

I am just adding in, the driver delivered an Amazon parcel and left it on my door step but took the next package away with her. No collection was instructed so theft.

Amazon simply don’t care.

That's awful @baubletime.
We have recorded evidence. This is not theft as such, the collection guy made a careless stupid mistake, maybe through rushing, confusion, or whatever.
