Does anybody else have that hideous illness that starts as aches and cold, and then turns into vomiting and diarrhea?

Because oh my God, it's fucking hideous.

We are in the thick of it. We've had a week of aches and pains, then it started turning into a cold. And then just as I thought it was going, I've had 24 hours of vomiting and diarrhea.

How long does it go in for!? What is it?

And how are you holding up?

My daughter has had this all week. We thought she was getting over the worst of it yesterday, but she threw up again about 1am. She is back to having a very high temp and feeling awful. I hope you all feel better soon.

Yes I’m coming out of the other side of it after 4 weeks of feeling grotty. Ended up with penicillin for infected sinuses which might have helped kick it.

Yes, I had it a few weeks ago. DH was away with friends so I had to solo parent my 2 small kids and dog while he was gone. It was absolutely hideous and in my parenting experience, I hit the floor. I literally begged him to switch on location on WhatsApp so I could watch him drive down the motorway towards us when he came back, because I was so mentally low I needed the hope of seeing him getting closer.

I'm nearly nine months pregnant so I'm just hoping it clears before the baby comes

Yep, on day 10 now. Keep going to bed thinking I will feel better tomorrow but just seems to get worse. Did a Covid test which was negative. Not been to doctor as been feeling too ill and also, not sure if they will do much but say it is a virus. But will have to call them on Monday as will need a doctor’s note for work.

I’ve had it for about two weeks now? Mine started last week, with a day of sickness, and diarrhoea, along with bad night sweats. Then, I ended up with what I thought was a cold, and it got worse, so I thought maybe Covid. Done two tests, and showing negative. Still snotty as hell, sore throat, can’t taste or smell anything, I’m exhausted, and the stuff coming out of my face is DISGUSTING. I’ve had enough now 😫😫

TheGrimSmile · 07/12/2025 11:44

I had this early November and it lasted for 4 weeks. It was awful.

badkitty · 07/12/2025 12:42

Mine is still going strong, absolutely fed up with it now, not managed to do anything Christmassy or even get decs out of the loft, it’s miserable

Bbq1 · 07/12/2025 13:12

I've had it 4 weeks. I was so ill in work on Thursday, I couldn't get home as I felt so ill and just sat with my head on the desk until my colleague came to take me home. I'm immuosuppressed so saw my Dr for the second time in 4 weeks and she prescribed antibiotics to be careful.

DH and DSS have both been terribly afflicted, both had it for a week (DSS first) and it followed exactly the pattern OP described. DH started to feel normal yesterday and I thought I’d dodged it, but today I’m starting with a bit of sore throat. If anyone could shed any light on the possible incubation period I’d be grateful as I have a busy week next week and hanging on to the hope that my symptoms were caused by last night’s wine🙁
