Wrist watch for nearly 11 yo

DS (turning 11 soon) is not good with telling the time, and obviously we are working on that.

However, I wondered if kids of his age actually wear ordinary (analog, not digital) watches anymore? I don’t think they do as I’ve been looking but rarely see any wearing them.

Smart watches are banned at his primary school which is fine, but I’m torn between getting him an ordinary watch and hoping he won’t be ridiculed for it (yes, there are some kids at his school like that), or some sort of basic Smart watch that he can call/text us on it (they can hand in phones etc at the start of the day to the teacher).

We don’t want him having a Smart phone yet, plus it’s analog time we need him to grasp, so I wondered if there is a good Smart watch with an analog display option which would bridge both things I’m after.

Any ideas or recommendations for watches please?

Ds got an analog wrist watch when he started secondary. He didn’t want to take his phone to school. We went to a watch shop and asked them to recommend him one. He has been using the watch past four years. Apparently several of his fellow pupils can’t read the clock.
