OMG this is miserable.

I have had flu and it’s been rubbish. Finally got up yesterday afternoon, started feeling a bit better and so happy/relieved. Then today……😭

Everything is coming off my chest all at once. It’s like blob stuck in my throat and when I cough it makes me gag and retch to the point I’m nearly sick.

For background I have a severe phobia of being sick. I can mask it most of the time but it’s there.
I also can’t cough up and spit out phlegm, never been able to. I can barely even say it.

The two things combined are just miserable. I am seriously panicked about the night. I feel so sick and ill and keep getting these coughing fits which end up in heaves and retching and gagging and OMG if you have got this far then well done.

The bedbound stage was preferable to this.

Is there ANYTHING I can take or do to stop this please 😭

Without using the ph*m word if possible please because writing it once was too much for me.

I found the Neilmed wash things help. Everything just sort of washes away and you don't even need to look while you waterboard your sinuses.

Thank you. I’d love to try that but worried it would make me gag?

Absolutely no idea! But there are a limited number of ways to reduce the situation so surely worth a go?

If the issue is the “stuff” in your nose dropping down to your throat / chest the best thing you can do is to remove it before it gets that far.

saline spray a few times a day will allow you to blow some of it out before it goes down causing the gag issues.
my experience of this is just nasal goes up nose and blows out of nose….

if it’s gone to your chest and is chest infection that’s going to be harder. You basically need to cough it out. Sorry
